Technical Designer

THE OPPORTUNITY

Striking Distance Studios is looking for a Technical Designer to work in a cooperative cross-disciplinary team environment.

***This role can work remotely in the US and Canada!

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design document and tune game mechanics controls and systems.
• Work with Leads Systems Designers Animators and Engineers to create compelling gameplay mechanics.
• Collaborate with team to ensure highest level of quality and to guarantee visibility and alignment
• Fully document design for Engineers Prop Artists and Animators. Creatively solve system conflicts and troubleshoot technical limitations
• Balance and tune gameplay to ensure the highest level of player engagement.
• Communicate with Production to ensure all deadlines are met
• Work with Design to create tools/workflow enhancements that can benefit the team as a whole through production.
• Work with all teams to prototype and prove out the viability of content whether it be tools or gameplay mechanics.

QUALIFICATIONS

• A minimum of3 years AAA design.
• A strong understanding of design principles and combat design.
• Professional experience working in UE4/UE5
• Coding experience in Unreal Engine C
• Very Experienced with Scripting languages and visual scripting languages. (Blueprint knowledge preferred)
• A passion and hunger to make the best games.

In California the expected salary range for this position is $95000-$131000. The listed expected salary range represents a good faith estimate and the actual pay may depend on a variety of job-related factors that can include experience education skills and location.
