Position Overview

We are representing a multidisciplinary engineering firm seeking a highly experienced Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to lead Surveying & Mapping operations across Southern California. This role holds responsible charge for departmental leadership technical oversight and client-facing business development. Project scope ranges from small-site development to large-scale tract and master-planned community work.

Key Responsibilities

Department Leadership & Management

• Lead and manage the Surveying & Mapping Department in responsible charge.

• Provide mentoring development QA/QC oversight and operational leadership.

Technical Surveying & Project Execution

• Direct boundary topographic construction staking and mapping workflows.

• Review and ensure accuracy of surveying calculations analyses and deliverables.

• Oversee certification packages plats maps ALTA/ACSM surveys and related documents.

Client & Business Development

• Maintain and grow client relationships across Southern California.

• Support proposals scope development and strategic market expansion.

Required Qualifications

• Active California Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license.

• 10 years of land surveying experience (boundary topographic construction) in Southern California.

• 5 years of leadership or management experience.

• Bachelors degree in Surveying Geomatics Civil Engineering or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Expert knowledge of the California Subdivision Map Act.

• Proficiency with modern surveying technology (GPS total stations scanning etc.).

• Strong leadership and mentoring capability.

• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills especially in complex boundary retracement.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills for multidisciplinary coordination and client presentations.
