Under general supervision designs builds and repairs a variety of tools jigs fixtures welding brazing and assembly fixtures.

Responsible for guiding and training other tool makers. Analyzes specifications lays-out metal stock sets up and operates a wide variety of exact tolerance machine tools. Fits and assembles parts to fabricate and repair metal working dies cutting tools jigs fixtures gauges and machinists hand tools. Modifies dies to conform to engineering changes. Troubleshoots equipment and makes complex repairs.

Requires a high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires 1-3 years related experience.

Moderate knowledge of how to tear down units trouble shoot for problems determine extent of troubles repair damage mechanism or replace worn or defective parts and reassemble. Some knowledge of how to select the best material suited for specific purposes troubleshoot and diagnose problems with metalworking dies and other tooling. Requires strong mathematical and analytical abilities. Able to read and interpret blueprints and diagrams. Must be able to move at least 50 pounds.

Compensation:This is an hourly non-exempt role. The starting pay range for this role and market is between $22.00 $26.25 /hour. Factors that may affect starting pay include geography/market and the skills education experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. Employees in this role are also eligible to earn overtime when they work more than 40 hours in a week (or as otherwise required by state law).
