The Opportunity

Reporting to theCertification& Compliance Manageris responsible forcoordinating sales facilityteamsand related corporate functions to ensure Atlantics various certification standards are being met and prepared for periodic audits.

Certification & ComplianceSpecialistplaysa critical role insupportingcommitment to several programs including quality food safety health & safety environmental ethical addition you will be tasked with our audit team toassistwithinternal partners in an informational capacity so they can develop and implement strategies to meet requirements or improve.

What Youll Do

  • Understand the companys objectives and how they relate to facilities / departments so critical improvements can be identified and escalated as required
  • Become Internal Subject Matter Expert (SME) in relation to certification standards regulations and typical customer requirements as they pertain to paper and paper packaging in multiple industries
  • Collaborate with internal departments to develop maintain and improve HACCP / HARPC plans in keeping with food safety certifications and related regulations
  • Work with audit team to develop internal audit scope and plans related to quality food safety environmental Health & Safety ethics FSC / SFI chain of custody and associated ESG programs
  • Assist with development and control of formal document control systems with goal of becoming SME
  • Assist with FSC / SFI systems and audits with goal of becoming SME
  • Assist with the coordination and ensure completion of customer and auditor requests for information with goal of becoming SME
  • Assist with the management and updating of customer audit and third-party information websites as they relate to certification responsibilities
  • Control performance report & follow up on audits related to manufacturing and warehousing facilities
  • Act as an objective source of independent advice to ensure validity legality and goal achievement
  • Identify problems and recommend risk aversion measures for effective operation and cost savings
  • Maintain open communication with management facilities and larger audit team regarding status risks and improvements
  • Engage in ongoing knowledge development regarding sectors rules regulations best practices tools techniques and performance standards
  • Work with customers and certification auditors to ensure appropriate responses to questions and as necessary facilitate on-site audits / tours to satisfy requirement verification
  • Support corporate and facility managers with technical assistance regarding certification / customer requirements to help them develop appropriate systems and documentation
  • Provide requirement guidance to internal team members when working on common projects
  • Work with audit team to develop internal audit scope and plans related to quality food safety environmental Health & Safety ethics and associated ESG programs
  • Identify opportunities to improve operations and effectiveness to meet requirements or expectations
  • Collaborate with internal owners to set certification expectations and maintain related controls
  • Guide mentor and coach the team on effective relationship building
  • Liaise with the necessary support departments to promote timely audit corrective actions investigations
  • Set expectations and maintain positive relationships with customers and manufacturing operations throughout the division
  • Identify opportunities for improvement within the audit team as well as the plants and advocate for the resources required to effectively address opportunities
  • Ensure that processes needed for certification are established implemented and maintained
  • Understand and encourage facilities / departments in implementing the companys policies and procedures
  • Champion a portfolio of corporate level projects/initiatives intended to improve company and personal development

What youll bring:

  • Education or experience in quality food or food packaging industry
  • Education / experience in lead or internal auditing
  • Access to transportation that can travel within greater Toronto area with reasonable expectation of arrival in 1-3 hours
  • Ability to travel on short notice (primarily within Toronto GTA) for plan and unannounced audits
  • Preference given to education or experience in preventative / corrective actions processes
  • Preference given to present or past ASQ certifications
  • Preference given to technical writing education or experience
  • Ability to work independently and provide educated advice with minimal supervision
  • Preference given to education / work experience with systems or standards related to GMP general food safety practices Risk Reviews HACCP / HARPC planning GFSI ISO9001 or Packaging regulations
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with other departments
  • Excellentanalytical and critical thinking skills
  • Competent computer skills related to using software such as Excel Visio Word
  • Preference given to advanced computer skills related such as backend access excel coding etc
  • Related working experience as Internal or External auditor
  • Ability to manipulate large amounts of information and compile into manageable reports
  • High attention to detail excellent analytical skills and ability to manage the follow up of multiple audit related activities.
  • Ability to make sound independent judgements related to audit issues that are based on perceived risks cost and value-added benefits.
  • Change-driven individual who loves to challenge the status quo.
  • Organized and self-motivated

Hiring Range: $66400 - $83100 per year. A candidates experience and knowledge may be factored into the pay a candidate receives for this position. This posting is for an existing vacancy.
