Job Summary

Director of Sales Heavy Equipment

TheDirector of Sales is responsible for leading and developing a team of Regional Sales Managers and is accountable for driving revenue growth building and strengthening customer relationships and expanding market presence within the territory. This role blends strategic leadership with handson sales execution ensuring the sales team and our customers are optimally supported.

LOCATION: The ideal candidate will reside within commuting distance to the Monroe North Carolina branch.

  • Salary Range: $155000.00-$180000.00 based on experience
  • Annual bonus opportunity
  • Company vehicle or vehicle allowance
  • Area of Responsibility: North & South Carolina Virginia and Eastern Tennessee

POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Certification:

  • Bachelors degree in business administration marketing or related field is preferred
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check
  • Must have valid drivers license with acceptable drivers record

Experience & Skills

  • 5 years in a sales management or director level position
  • Previous experience in a field-based/B2C sales position
  • Strong understanding of industrial heavy equipment or related markets
  • Experience selling to government agencies such as municipalities
  • Expert understanding of the end-to-end equipment sales cycle
  • Demonstrated success developing new or underserved markets
  • Highly proficient with CRM programs
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications (Outlook Excel)
  • Strong business acumen communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong technical or mechanical aptitude

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and execute the annual sales plan for the region aligned with company goals and market opportunities
  • Identify and prioritize sales opportunities across the region putting plans in place to expand market share
  • Collaborate internally with crossfunctional teams including Marketing Rentals Parts and Service to best support customers and execute on sales plans
  • Prepare and provide accurate and timely monthly sales forecasts based on orders backlog customer requirements and market conditions
  • Analyze and present strategic insights market trends and growth opportunities to senior leadership team
  • Assess and understand the regional market well to develop short- and long-term growth strategies that align with the companys overall growth objectives

Sales Excellence & Operational Oversight:

  • Ensure effective use across the team of CRM system and sales tools in alignment with department processes
  • Oversee regional resource planning expense management and balanced territory coverage
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance sales operations workflows and team productivity
  • Collaborate with internal operational teams to resolve process gaps and support seamless customer engagement
  • Ensure accuracy in data management and compliance with pricing policies
  • Review and approve customer quotes and monthly sales commissions
  • Represent the company at trade shows customer events and industry activities
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends competitor offerings and business landscape

Customer & Partner Relations:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with OEMs key accounts dealers and strategic partners and stakeholders serving as a champion and expert in the industry on behalf of the company
  • Travel throughout the territory to engage with customers cultivate relationships and identify new business opportunities

Leadership & Team Development:

  • Lead mentor and develop a multistate fieldbased sales team
  • Identify hiring needs participate in recruitment and ensure effective onboarding of new team members
  • Identify training requirements for the sales team and coordinate applicable training to shore up knowledge gaps and ensure a knowledgeable sales team
  • Provide guidance to team on technical aspects of products
  • Set annual sales targets and RSM scorecards and track progress
  • Ensure optimal coverage across the territory and adjust as required due to market conditions
  • Review team performance through CRM activity pipeline growth wins/losses and territory planning
  • Champion and hold team accountable to workplace health and safety in alignment with company processes and policies
  • Other duties as may be required

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Supervision of Others:

  • 5-10 direct reports (Regional Sales Managers)

Travel Requirements:

  • Frequent travel within area of responsibility
  • Periodic travel across the US
