About the team:

Turos Search Platform is looking for brilliant software engineers who have a passion for consumer products and want to join an energetic team that is changing the way people think about travel. We ship code daily A/B test extensively and have a primary role in creating the product from inception to implementation. Theres much to do and youll be responsible for making some real cool stuff happen.

Our APIs internal services and web app are at the core of our stable of software thats reinventing mobility. Be a member of a small team of talented engineers and designers and play a major role in shaping an exciting app thats changing how people travel and think about car ownership.

What you will do:

• You will build scalable low-latency highly available distributed systems that power and evolve the infrastructure behind our Search Platform.

• You will collaborate extensively with product management design and engineers to develop product features that drive our metrics.

• You will produce high-quality maintainable code test it collaboratively review it and ship it.

• You will identify areas to improve and scale our architecture and application design.

• You will develop tools and utilities to diagnose and fix problems.

• Ensure proper technical design and documentation.

• Work efficiently in a constantly changing and growing environment where the process is fluid and creative solutions are desired.

Your profile:

• Typically a minimum of 7 years experience shipping high-scale code to production.

• Hands-on experience with search engines (Opensearch or Elasticsearch)

• Strong proficiency in cloud-native architectures (AWS Kubernetes etc.)

• Fluent in at least one language - e.g. Java Python Ruby Go or C

• Possess strong computer science fundamentals: data structures algorithms database concepts distributed systems and search.

• Enjoy solving problems and helping others meet their goals.

• Passionate about search streaming database or other backend technologies.

Bonus if you have:

• Bachelors/Masters degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related field

• Experience working with ML-based ranking infrastructure.

• Strong communicator. Explaining complex technical concepts to designers support and other engineers is no problem for you.

For this role the target base salary range in San Francisco is $182000 - $228000 annually. This role is also eligible for equity and general our ranges reflect the market-based target for new hire salaries based on the level and location of the role. Within the range individual pay is determined by objective factors assessed during the application and interview process such as job-related skills experience and relevant education or training. This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule Turists will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays Wednesdays and Thursdays.
