About the company

Remote World is partnering with a UK telehealth startup providing online mental health support a UK-based employer to hire for this role. Theyve matched over 30000 patients with therapists through their platform and theyre expanding their backend services to support group therapy and employer programmes.

The role

Youll build Spring Boot services in Kotlin that power the matching engine session scheduling and billing integrations. Working in a small backend team youll own features end to end write tests participate in code review and help the team keep latency low as the patient base grows.

What youll do

• Build and maintain Kotlin Spring Boot services
• Design and implement new API endpoints for mobile and web clients
• Write unit and integration tests with Kotest or JUnit
• Optimise slow database queries and reduce API latency
• Participate in on-call rotation and service health reviews

What youll need

• Hands-on Kotlin experience in a Spring Boot context
• Comfortable with SQL and JPA/Hibernate
• Understanding of REST API design and versioning
• You write tests and use code review productively
• Good async written communication

Nice to have

• Experience with event-driven systems (Kafka or RabbitMQ)
• Familiarity with healthcare data standards (HL7 FHIR)
