Teaching A-level Sociology (AQA syllabus) to classes of first and second year (year 12 & 13) students at our St Albans campus.
If new to teaching Oaklands will offer you a structured induction programme pairing you with an experienced mentor. You will gain broad experience in a teaching environment from student enrolment right up to results addition to this we will offer you a range of training and the opportunity to achieve a recognised teaching qualification.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES
To teach A-level Sociology in line with the AQA syllabus;
To plan and develop engaging comprehensive lessons that cater to different learning styles and abilities;
Manage student behaviour and engagement in line with College behaviour policy
To set and mark assignments monitoring student progress and providing feedback to help students improve their performance and prepare them for the A-level exams;
To maintain accurate records of student attendance progress and grades;
To write reports and communicate with parents about student progress;
To contribute to departmental development through participation in curriculum planning quality assurance internal verification of student work and professional development activities.
PERSON SPECIFICATION SKILLS EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
A degree in Sociology or a related field;
Familiarity with current research and advancements to keep lessons relevant and interesting;
Excellent organisational planning and communication skills;
Skill in explaining difficult ideas in a way that is accessible to students.
