Description of Work
The Construction Technician (Maintenance/Construction Technician I) is an entrylevel role designed for individuals who are eager to begin a career in the maintenance and construction trades. No prior experience is required. Success in this position is driven by a positive attitude reliability and a willingness to learn.In this role you will receive handson training and gain valuable experience in the construction installation maintenance and repair of general building systems including plumbing HVAC electrical and related equipment.
Key Duties
Assist with basic construction installation and repair tasks under the direction of senior technicians.
Learn and follow safety procedures tools and techniques used in building maintenance and construction.
Perform routine inspections and report maintenance needs or equipment issues.
Support troubleshooting and repair of plumbing HVAC electrical and general facility systems.
Maintain tools equipment and work areas in clean and orderly condition.

About the Division of Engineering Construction and Maintenance (DECM)
The Division of Engineering Construction and Maintenance (DECM) coordinates all North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections (NCDAC) construction and renovation efforts working closely with the State Construction Office to bring projects to life. We represent the department on key property and building matters while keeping facilities running smoothly through expert support for mechanical electrical kitchen and other essential systems. With a dedicated team specializing in design project management and sustainability DECM helps ensure our facilities stay safe efficient and ready to serve.
Work Location and Schedule
This position will be assigned a State-owned vehicle for commuting to and from the assigned project location. The work schedule is Monday Thursday 7:00 AM 5:30 PM but occasionally could require work hours on Fridays and weekends. Overnight travel is normally required to meet the demands of the organization.
