The laboratoryof Dr. Gavin Ha ( has a Research Project Manager position open in the Herbold Computational BiologyProgramof the Public Health Sciences and Human Biology areseekinga highly motivated individual whowill bringprojectmanagement skills and an understandingofcancer biology toour computational team. The Ha Lab develops computational approaches tostudy cancer genomes from tumors and liquid biopsies such as circulating tumor DNA. Their goals are touncover mechanismsof treatment resistance toidentifyblood-based genetic biomarkers and totranslate these findings tohelp improve clinical lab is supported by the National Institutesof Health (NIH) and DoD/CDMRP including receiving funding from the NIH Directors New Innovator Award theProstate Cancer Foundation and the V Foundation.

We work in an interdisciplinary team environment with many local and external experts. Allourprojects involve partnering with investigators whohave diverseexpertisein molecular and experimental biology cancer biology and clinical research. The successful candidate will have theopportunity tosupporttransformative and leading-edge researchproblems in cancer research:

Cancer Genome Analysis study tumor evolution non-coding genome alterations genome rearrangements and chromatinorganization cell plasticity metastatic disease
Liquid Biopsy Analysis and Methods Development develop new computational methodologies for exploiting liquid biopsies tostudy cancer and toadvance precisiononcology
Prenatal diagnostics and Pregnancy disorders studyof prenatal cell-free DNA tostudy pregnancy disorders such as preeclampsia including developmentof new methodologies for early detection monitoring.
Multi-omicData Integration using genome transcriptome methylome and chromatin/epigenetic data modalities tostudy cancer subtypes phenotypes heterogeneity and resistance totherapy.

Responsibilities

ResearchProjectManagement

  • Collaborate with PI andcoordinate withadministrativeteamtoensureprojectsremainin scopeon time and within budget.
  • Manage tasks milestones andoutcomes across multiple simultaneous long-term scientific researchprojects.
  • Facilitatemeetinglogisticssetagendasand document follow-up action items.
  • Managemaintain and continually improvelabtask managementsystem labwiki andprojectand task dashboards.
  • Drive early adoptionof AI tools for improved efficiency through theprojectmanagement lifecycle and for continuedprocess improvement.
  • Workclosely withprojectleaders collaborators and service vendors toinitiateandmanagecontractedexperimentalprojects such asspecimenprocessing next-genand long-readsequencing.
  • Work closely withPIanddivisionadministrativeteam todevelop and implement Data Management and Sharing Plans(DMSP)during grant preparation.
  • Track and ensure compliancetoMTAs DUAs and IRBfiles.

Data Management

  • Overseegenomic dataon premiseand in cloud environmentsthroughout the data management lifecycleincluding:
    • Coordinate with sequencing vendorstodownload anddocument newsequencingdatasets
    • Managedataprocurement andaccesspolicies
    • Implement metadatatagging anddatasetdocumentation
    • Overseeon premiseand clouddatastorage/computechargeback cost allocations
    • Interfacewith Fred Hutch ScientificComputingand IT
  • Ensuregenomic datasets are managed incompliance withassociatedDMSPsDUAsand IRBfiles.

Scientific Leadership

  • Provide guidance toteam members for study designanalytical approachesscientificinterpretationacrossprojects.
  • Advisenew memberson how tonavigate theHa Lab andFredHutch culture resourcesandcomputingenvironments andfacilitateconnectionswith peopleor groups throughout theCenter.
  • Support grant and manuscript preparation specificallytechnical scientific writingdraftinglaboratorymethodsandfigure preparation.
  • Promoteandsustaina supportive collaborative labenvironmentthatencouragesprofessionalgrowthandnurturesthe individualstrengthsof Ha Lab team members.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Project Manager III:

  • Minimum of 5 years post-masters or 5 years post-bachelors related project/study management experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong supervisory skills and budgeting experience.
  • Ability to relate to and coordinate with multidisciplinary and culturally diverse research technical and management staff.

Project Manager Sr:

  • Mminimum BS degree in related scientific field with 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum3yearsofexperienceingenomicsand/oroncologyresearchenvironment.
  • Projectmanagement certificationor minimumof 2 yearsofprofessionalprojectmanagementexperience preferablyinacomputational biology environment.
  • Experience withtask andprojectmanagementplatformssuch asAtlassian Confluenceand Jira.
  • Prior experience withdata managementand cloud computing environments.
  • Authorshiponpeer-reviewedscientific publicationorequivalent record toshowcasescientificexperience.
  • Exemplaryorganizational skills attention todetailand serviceorientation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PhD preferred
  • Experience with GitHub.
  • Demonstrated ability toincorporate understandingof scientific concepts ingenomicsoncologyand computational biologysufficient toassistinprojectplanningmanagement and grant/manuscript writing.
  • Knowledgein genomics laboratory techniquestooverseedesignofwet-lab experiments performed in-house with collaboratorsor contracted by vendorsandtomanage large-scale sequencingprojects.
  • Knowledgetoenableappropriate adoptionof AI-based tools inaresearch setting

Project Manager III: The annual base salary range for this position is from $97822 to $146682 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.

Project Manager Sr: The annual base salary range for this position is from $104458 to $165090 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
