BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT
Working under the supervision of the Head of Targeting the Fellow will support selected Country Offices in applying and strengthening Targeting assurace measures. The Fellow will collaborate with technical units to identify linkages between targeting and broader programme areas while contributing to the development and testing of innovative targeting methodologies. Insights from this work will inform updated guidance tools and learning materials.
ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under this fellowship the Fellow will contribute to the following activities:
Provide analytical and operational support to country operations by helping design targeting strategies informed by programme objectives.
Conduct advanced analytical workincluding statistical geospatial and mixed-methods analysesto strengthen geographic and household-level targeting and to validate different targeting methods and approaches.
Develop and deliver capacity-strengthening materials including workshops webinars and other learning opportunities for WFP colleagues and partners.
DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT
The Fellow will produce analytical briefs targeting strategy inputs supporting country-level decision-making. Outputs will feed into corporate guidance capacity-strengthening resources and improved targeting processes across WFP operations.
Education
Masters and PhD students or graduates researchers or professors (Please specify here the preferred fields of study)
with a degree in social science public health statistics geography economics or related fields
Experience
Advanced academic knowledge or technical experience in (Please specify here the preferred fields of experience) data analysis machine learning food security analysis
Knowledge & Skills
Strong skills in one or more statistical software (SPSS Stata R etc.) required and background in advanced statistical analysis for targeting is desired
Experience in planning conducting and overseeing participatory qualitative data collection methods including through Focus Group Discussions key Informant Interviews etc.
Experience working in dynamic and innovative environments
Ability to work independently interacting with a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders;
Languages
Fluency in English (Level C). Intermediate knowledge of any other official UN language (French Spanish Arabic Chinese Russian or Portuguese) is an asset. (Please specify here additional requirements at the duty station)
