• Bachelors Degree in urban planning political science business administration or a related field
• Four (4) years of progressively responsible planning and/or policy experience
• Experience working with interdisciplinary or intergovernmental teams in politically sensitive environments
• Proven project management experience

As a Principal Planner you will lead the development of intermunicipal frameworks that optimize land use and infrastructure. You will manage complex regional projects providing expert advice to leadership and collaborators to drive regional prosperity.

What will you do

• Lead intermunicipal projects to create or amend agreements and plans
• Develop policies and procedures focused on regional strategic topics like transportation and economic development
• Manage all project components including scoping budgeting and directing external vendor services
• Provide subject matter expertise on regional scale policies to internal partners
• Evaluate land development applications and statutory plans for their potential regional impacts
• Research best practices in other jurisdictions to support internal decision-making on regional strategy
• Draft briefing notes and official responses to intermunicipal partners regarding land development proposals
• Facilitate engagement across City Departments to identify opportunities for cross-departmental coordination
