Job Summary

Leidos is seeking an Industrial Engineering Intern to support operational excellence and process improvement initiatives within a hightechnology engineering and manufacturing environment. This role provides handson experience applying industrial engineering principles to improve efficiency quality and throughput across missioncritical production systems.

Youll work with a multidisciplinary team developing advanced maritime technologies from prototype design to full-scale system deployment for ongoing Navy missions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.
  • Collect and analyze production data to identify bottlenecks inefficiencies and optimization opportunities.
  • Assist with capacity planning scheduling and resource allocation for missioncritical projects.
  • Recommend workspace layout improvements to enhance workflow and production efficiency.
  • Collaborate with engineering supply chain and quality teams to implement process improvements.
  • Conduct time studies and workflow analysis to support operational optimization.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.

Required Qualifications

  • Enrolled in an ABETaccredited Industrial Engineering or related engineering program
  • Completion of a sophomore-level engineering curriculum
  • Strong analytical problemsolving and data interpretation skills
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing concepts and process mapping
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within crossfunctional teams
  • US citizenship required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Experience with process mapping workflow analysis or time studies
  • Exposure to Lean Six Sigma or continuous improvement methodologies
  • Familiarity with CAD tools or simulation software

Pay Range $48100.00 - $86950.00
