About this Position
The position supports student success by guiding prospective new and returning students through the admissions and enrollment process while providing highquality academic advising. This role assists students with selecting courses understanding program requirements and accessing university resources. The position also offers individualized support to students experiencing academic challenges and participates in orientation enrollment events and departmental initiatives.
In addition the role maintains accurate student records utilizes advising software to track academic progress and contributes to continuous improvement through datainformed decisionmaking. The position engages in ongoing professional development and serves on university committees focused on student success retention and advising initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors
A masters degree may be substituted for up to three (3) years of required degrees maywarrantadjustment to years ofexperienceequivalency. (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)- Academic Advisor I: Bachelors Degree and zero two years of experience in a comparable position.
- Academic Advisor II: Bachelors Degree and two to three years of experience incomparableposition. Teach up to two sections of Univ IIII.
- Academic Advisor III: Bachelors Degree and three to five years of experience in a comparable up to two sections of Univ IIII.
- Senior Academic Advisor I: Bachelors Degree and five to seven years of experience in a comparable position. Teach up to two sections of Univ IIII.
- Senior Academic Advisor II: Bachelors Degree and seven years of experience in a comparable position. Teach up to two sections of Univ IIII. Administrative experience that could include responsibility with unit programs and/or student groups; supervisory experience to include interviewingtrainingand development etc. of employees and/or student leaders; and/or coordination of special projects.
- Skills Proficiencies and/or Knowledge:
Possess a positive attitude good communication skills and a desire to assist students in achieving success. Demonstrate creativity and initiative and be a proactive participant in a team environment. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Manage confidential information appropriately. Must be service-oriented and able to work with a diverse group of faculty staff and students in a positive manner at all times.
