The Aircraft Sheetmetal Technician is responsible for ensuring that aircraft operating within Bristows Part 145 Repair Station remain structurally sound airworthy and compliant with all regulatory and manufacturer standards. This includes performing Sheetmetal repairs fabrication structural maintenance and inspections in accordance with FAA regulations company procedures and approved technical data while maintaining strict adherence to safety and quality requirements.

Bristow is the worlds largest operator of the S92 AW189 and AW139 all of which form the backbone of its offshore energy fleet. These aircraft are widely used in the Gulf of America to support crew changes longrange offshore flights and challenging operational environments typical of the regions oil and gas infrastructure.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan lays out fabricates assembles removes installs and repairs sheet metal parts equipment and components utilizing knowledge of working characteristics of metallic and non-metallic materials machining and layout techniques using hand tools power tools machines and equipment.
  • Reads and interprets blue prints sketches or specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabricating assembling and installing metallic and non-metallic products.
  • Selects gauge and type of metallic and non-metallic material according to specifications.
  • Lays out and marks dimensions and reference lines on material using scribes dividers squares and rulers. Applying knowledge of shop mathematics and layout techniques to develop and trace patterns or parts or using templates.
  • Sets up and operates fabricating machines such as shears brakes presses forming rolls routers and saws to cut bend block and form or straighten materials.
  • Shapes metal material over anvil block or other form using hand tools. Trims files grinds deburrs buffs and smooths surfaces using hand and portable power tools.
  • Welds solders bolts rivets screws clips caulks or bonds component parts to assemblies using hand tools power tools and equipment.
  • Document all discrepancies maintenance performed incomplete maintenance and all after-maintenance requirements on appropriate forms. (Work orders tags records etc.)
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Utilize the HS&E Manual and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when appropriate (gloves safety glasses etc.).
  • Prior to accomplishing a maintenance task ensure that all calibrated special tools required to perform the job have a valid inspection sticker.
  • Utilize the 145 Repair Station/Quality Control Manual.
  • Adhere to all Company Policies and Procedures.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Possess sound judgment and objectivity in decision-making
  • Proficient in aircraft maintenance inspection and repair
  • A thorough knowledge of the General Operations Manual Operations Specifications and other pertinent information
  • Extensive knowledge of all aircraft mechanical systems functions and interactions

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred not required: FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate
  • Two to four years of related work experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Walking standing pushing pulling reaching bending kneeling squatting for extended periods of time
  • Climbing heights on various equipment
  • Lifting up to 20 or more pounds
  • Must have sufficient vision and ability to safely perform the essential functions of the position
