Job Summary
This Department of War enterprise data and analytics program delivers mission-critical capabilities that enable leaders across the Department to make faster better-informed decisions using trusted data at scale. Leidos Digital Modernization sector is seeking an experienced Journeyman Cloud Operations Engineer to support the delivery enhancement and adoption of enterprise data and analytics products used across multiple DoD organizations.
In this role you will work alongside government partners engineers and other industry teammates to translate operational and strategic requirements into scalable production-ready solutions. You will contribute directly to product planning execution and continuous improvement helping ensure capabilities are delivered efficiently aligned to mission priorities and positioned for sustained success.
This position offers the opportunity to work on a high-visibility enterprise program at the intersection of data analytics and emerging AI technologies. Primary Responsibilities:
- Support operation and maintenance of cloud infrastructure environments (e.g. AWS Azure or GCP) across multiple security enclaves.
- Perform system administration tasks including monitoring patching configuration management and troubleshooting.
- Assist with implementation and maintenance of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and automation processes.
- Support DevSecOps pipelines by assisting with application deployment integration and monitoring.
- Monitor system performance and availability identify issues and escalate as needed.
- Support compliance with NIST SP 800-53 RMF and STIG requirements.
- Assist with asset management backup and recovery processes to ensure operational continuity.
- Troubleshoot operational issues and support incident response activities.
- Collaborate with DevOps cybersecurity and engineering teams to support integrated system operations.
- Maintain operational documentation runbooks and standard operating procedures.
- Participate in SAFe ceremonies including sprint planning backlog refinement sprint reviews and retrospectives.
Basic Qualifications:
- Active Top Secret (TS) clearance with SCI eligibility.
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering Information Systems or related technical discipline and 48 years of relevant experience OR Masters degree in a related field and 26 years of relevant experience.
- At least one of the following foundational qualification pathways consistent with DoD 8140 requirements:
- Current DoD 8570/8140 baseline certification appropriate for Basic System Administrator roles (e.g. Security Network A or equivalent)
- Offerings listed in the DoD 8140 Training Repository
- Demonstrated equivalent training and experience qualifying under DoD 8140 foundational qualification alternatives.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in cloud operations engineering or related field.
- Experience supporting cloud environments (AWS Azure or GCP) or system administration functions.
- Experience with AWS Microsoft Azure Google Cloud Oracle Cloud and private cloud platforms.
- Experience performing system monitoring troubleshooting and configuration management tasks.
- Experience working with scripting or automation tools (e.g. Bash Python or similar).
- Experience developing and deploying systems via Infrastructure as Code.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to conduct root cause analysis.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active TS/SCI clearance.
- Masters degree in Computer Science Information Technology or related field.
- Experience supporting cloud operations across NIPRNet SIPRNet and JWICS environments.
- Experience working with containerized environments (Docker Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools (e.g. Terraform CloudFormation).
- Exposure to DevSecOps pipelines and automation practices.
- Entry-level cloud certifications (e.g. AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner Azure Fundamentals or equivalent).
- Experience with AI/ML model serving and deployment.
- Knowledge of DoD standards reference designs and policy.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $87100.00 - $157450.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline onlyand not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
