Job Summary

Ledcor is looking for a skilled Field Surveyor / Survey Crew Leader to play a handson role in delivering major rail corridor construction work. Focused on structures utilities and earthworks this position leads daily field survey operations and ensures precise execution across all surveyrelated activities on site.

In this role youll be responsible for completing layout and asbuilt surveys performing stakeouts using DTM surfaces alignments and profiles and carrying out essential field calculations to ensure accuracy and full compliance with design requirements. Youll work closely with construction teams to support heavy civil activities and keep field operations running smoothly.

The ideal candidate brings experience from largescale infrastructure projects strong Civil 3D skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with site superintendents subcontractors and construction crews in a fastmoving active jobsite environment.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate daily survey crew activities on site
  • Perform layout and staking for earthworks excavations foundations structural elements utilities and drainage systems
  • Execute as-built surveys and verify compliance with construction tolerances
  • Interpret civil and structural drawings to ensure accurate field implementation
  • Perform stakeouts using DTM surfaces alignments and profiles
  • Complete field calculations as required to support construction activities
  • Support excavation grading shoring formwork and concrete placement operations
  • Work closely with superintendents subcontractors project engineers and other construction partners to ensure proper execution of work
  • Upload manage and verify digital design files for field use
  • Process field data and assist in preparing drawings and calculations using AutoCAD Civil 3D and standard office software
  • Maintain accurate field records and survey documentation
  • Maintain calibrate and ensure proper care of survey instruments and equipment
  • Ensure compliance with QA/QC procedures and project specifications
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture on site

Required Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Degree in Surveying Geomatics Civil Engineering Technology or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience on large-scale infrastructure or heavy civil construction projects
  • Demonstrated experience in structures utilities and earthworks layout
  • Experience leading a survey crew in active construction environments
  • Strong knowledge of GPS/GNSS systems total stations digital levels and survey data collectors
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D familiarity with Leica Trimble or equivalent survey equipment platforms is preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret civil and structural drawings
  • Strong understanding of construction tolerances and field problem-solving
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills

Working Conditions:

  • Site based position in Oshawa Ontario

Compensation

$80000 - $100000 Annually

This is the expected base pay range for this role. Individual base pay will be determined based on a variety of factors including experience knowledge skills education and location.
