JOB IDENTIFICATION

Job Title: Swim School Instructor Chippewa Pool Arndt Park

Grade: II

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Department: Recreation

SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to: Aquatic Manger Aquatic Supervisor Swim School Coordinator

BASIC FUNCTION

Through a positive approach Swim School Instructors will lead classes and teach students swimming skills and water safety.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

1. Teach with creativity patience and positivity.
2. Be open to teaching students of different ages backgrounds and skill levels.
3. Comfortable being in water and teaching by example with demonstrations.
4. Plan and implement daily courses based on your students level.
5. Responsible for safety of participants.
6. Complete all necessary paperwork including daily lessons plans and swimmer report cards.
7. Demonstrate and promote positive guest relations and exceptional customer service.
8. Work as a team with the entire staff including instructors lifeguards and managers.
9. Develop positive parent and child relations.
10. Attend instructor in-service trainings as necessary.
11. Maintain a consistent schedule with minimal interruptions regular attendance and punctuality.

OTHER DUTIES

1. Respond calmly in emergency situations and assist as needed.
2. Adhere to Park District safety standards and procedures.
3. Perform additional duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Some High School education. Basic knowledge of swim strokes and techniques.

Experience: 15 years of age or older.

Exceptional customer service attitude.

Previous experience with teaching or watching children

Certifications: First Aid/CPR certification preferred but not required.
