Job Summary

The Nightingale-Bamford School seeks a Dance Teacher sabbatical leave replacement for the Fall Semester 2026-2027.

This is a part-time (.75FTE) temporary exempt position starting on August 31 2026

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):

  • Teaching 8 sections of Dance in the Lower and Middle Schools with the potential of teaching and Upper School Dance History Class
  • Ability to create and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that complements existing K-12 dance curriculum
  • Willingness to be an active participant in the Professional Community including weekly meetings (Tuesdays 3:30-5:00)
  • Complete grade reports (Lower School in December; Middle School in January).
  • Ability to manage class sizes of 25 students and maintain a safe supportive space for all dancers
  • Contributing to curriculum development and revision in collaboration with other faculty
  • Pursuing appropriate professional development to build content knowledge incorporate new pedagogical approaches and keep current in the field
  • Additional tasks and duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelors degree in Dance or a related subject MFA preferred
  • Embodied dance practice and expertise in ballet modern and jazz
  • Three to five years teaching Dance at the elementary or middle school level
  • Excellent classroom management skills
  • Employing best practices of pedagogy

SALARY

In compliance with NYCs Pay Transparency Act this .75 FTE positions annual salary range is $56250- $80000. When extending an offer Nightingale considers factors such as (but not limited to) the positions scope and responsibilities the candidates work experience education/training key skills internal peer equity and market and organizational considerations.
