Law Clerk (Attorney) Superior Judge Mary Jane Bowes

Job Duties

• Discerns analyzes and applies pertinent legal authorities.

• Reviews trial court records and appellate briefs.

• Recommends appropriate dispositions.

• Drafts logical articulate and persuasive dispositive memoranda and opinions utilizing the form and style required by Judge Bowes.

• Proofreads and reviews the writings of appellate court judges.

• Satisfies deadlines.

• Attends oral argument sessions and performs related work as required.

• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with members of the judiciary and departmental administrators.

Minimum Qualification

• Candidates must be licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania or attain admission to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania within twelve months of the date of hire.

• Satisfactory criminal background check required.

Additional Requirements

• Excellent oral and written communication skills are required

• Knowledge of legal reference materials research techniques legal writing styles and legal citations.
