The Law Clerk is a full-time position and is eligible for benefits including medical dental and vision beginning on the first day of employment. The attorney supports the Honorable Mary Jane Bowes of the Superior Court of Pennsylvania. The role requires outstanding research and writing skills. Job Duties
Discerns analyzes and applies pertinent legal authorities.
Reviews trial court records and appellate briefs.
Recommends appropriate dispositions.
Drafts logical articulate and persuasive dispositive memoranda and opinions utilizing the form and style required by Judge Bowes.
Proofreads and reviews the writings of appellate court judges.
Satisfies deadlines.
Attends oral argument sessions and performs related work as required.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with members of the judiciary and departmental administrators.
Minimum Qualification
Candidates must be licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania or attain admission to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania within twelve months of the date of hire.
Satisfactory criminal background check required.
Additional Requirements
Excellent oral and written communication skills are required
Knowledge of legal reference materials research techniques legal writing styles and legal citations.
