The Faculty of Business and Law is dedicated to being at the forefront of teaching learning creativity social development and groundbreaking research and discovery. We work closely with industry partners and government bodies to translate discoveries into real-world impact. This role will specifically be working within the Deakin Business School Finance Discipline Group.
About the role:
Associate Lecturer Education-focused -Level A
The Property and Real Estate group a subdiscipline under the finance discipline group offers the Bachelor of Property and Real Estate and the Graduate Diploma of Property. Both courses are accredited by the Australian Property Institute (API).
We are seeking a candidate who has:
- Certified Practising Valuer (CPV) accreditation from the Australian Property Institute (API) and
- a masters degree in business and/or real estate discipline and
- substantial related real estate valuation professional experience.
This position is suited to a person with an emerging record and passion for learning and teaching a keen interest in contributing to community engagement for teaching and employability.
As an Associate Lecturer Education-focused (Level A) you will:
- Work collaboratively within a teaching team to develop and deliver engaging learning materials and teaching activities for:
- Undergraduate Statutory Valuation
- Postgraduate Rating and Statutory Valuation
- Collaborate with academic and unit leaders to design effective assessment tasks and develop aligned assessment rubrics
- Clearly communicate assessment criteria and provide timely constructive feedback to support student learning and achievement of learning outcomes
- Contribute to highquality research scholarship and creative activities that generate impactful outputs
- Engage in scholarly development under the mentorship and guidance of experienced research leaders
- Develop effective learning materials and activities as part of a design team or with guidance from the Unit Chair and demonstrate awareness of ongoing innovation in curriculum design.
To be successful youll have:
Qualifications and experience
- A Certified Practising Valuer (CPV) accredited by the Australian Property Institute (API)
- PhD in a relevant discipline and/or other relevant qualifications and experience
- Excellent record of scholarly learning and teaching in UG and/or PG programs including innovative curriculum design
- Demonstrated passion for teaching and learning
- Ability to deliver effective teaching practices to improve student success and engagement
- Capacity to contribute to teaching research and administration.

As a Lecturer Education-focused (Level B) you will:
- Lead unit teaching teams and work collaboratively with other unit teaching teams in the course to develop effective unit curricula and learning resources (including through unit leadership roles). Contribute to the review of units and courses and implement refinements.
- Assist in applying industry clinical and/or research practice into student learning experiences success engagement and resources.
- Adopt innovation in curriculum design at the unit level and deliver learner-centric research-informed teaching practices across different levels / modes of delivery. Maintain deep discipline knowledge which is applied to inform unit design.
- Design collaborative learning opportunities at the unit level. Support diverse learners by designing accessible and inclusive unit material and practices.
- Develop effective assessment tasks and rubrics at unit level. Provide clear assessment criteria and timely feedback to learners to demonstrate learning outcomes. Monitor and adapt assessment practices to improve learning outcomes.

- Significant professional experiences in assessing property values for rating taxing and government acquisition purposes
- PhD in a relevant discipline and/or other relevant qualifications and experience
- Excellent record of scholarly learning and teaching in UG and/or PG programs including innovative curriculum design
- Demonstrated passion for teaching and learning
- Ability to deliver effective teaching practices to improve student success and engagement
- Capacity to contribute to leadership of research and administration.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues.
