Basic Function: | CAPS Mission In support of Kent State Universitys vision and core values the mission of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is to enhance the psychological health and development of Kent State University students. Through the provision of an array of culturally competent and evidence-based psychological services consultation with faculty and staff and programming CAPS staff contribute to the attainment of student educational objectives encourage student engagement in the university community and support students personal and professional success As a comprehensive student counseling center we endeavor to create a welcoming and affirming environment that honors inclusion and values individual and cultural differences. We strive to accomplish our mission through a variety of professional services including individual and group psychotherapy psychological testing crisis intervention drug and alcohol programs training of helping professionals and outreach and programing for the university community. Multidisciplinary and Collaborative Approach:We make efforts to collaborate with medical staffing at DeWeese Health Center personnel in the Division of Student Life the University and the broader community. Based on our mission and core values we are seeking a team member who is capable of and committed to the following: BASIC FUNCTION: As a culturally responsive member of a highly supportive and collaborative team the mental health provider delivers quality direct clinical services and outreach programming to the campus community. This position reports to a senior staff clinician. |

Examples of Duties: | Duties/essential functions may include but not be limited to the following: 60% Facilitate both face-to-face and telemental health services as indicated. Participate in the provision of mental health triage services. Conduct intake interviews psycho-diagnostic assessment case conceptualization and treatment plan formulation. Provide brief individual couples family and group psychotherapy to students with a broad spectrum of psychological academic and interpersonal concerns. Respond to high-risk clinical situations. Administer psychological assessment including intellectual behavioral and personality as indicated by training and discipline licensure. Provide collaborative care with a multidisciplinary team of mental health and primary care providers at DeWeese Health Center. Conduct mental health and preventative outreach programming to educate students and the university community. Offer supervision and seminars to CAPs trainees in accordance with training policies and procedures. 40% Complete clinical documentation according to CAPS policies and procedures. Prepare for outreach activities. Complete report writing. Prepare for supervision activities. Participate in professional development and continuing education activities. Attend CAPS staff clinical team and committee meetings. Take an active role in the continuous improvement of CAPS processes and systems. Participate in Student Life and university-wide committees. As budget allows represent CAPS on the Kent State campus in the State of Ohio and nationally. Perform other related duties as required. |
Additional Examples of Duties if applicable: | |
Minimum Qualifications: | Must possess the education and experience required to obtain one of the following: Licensure in the State of Ohio as a psychologist; Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW); or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). Two years of experience in a clinical setting. Must be able to work non-traditional hours. License/Certification:Licensure in the State of Ohio as a psychologist LISW or LPCC or Ohio license eligibility. Knowledge Of:Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Skill In:Clinical counseling Ability To:Design and implement a variety of psycho-educational programs |
Preferred Qualifications if applicable: | Experience working in a university counseling counseling college and/or high school-aged populations. Experience with electronic medical records. Experience and capability to work as part of a highly cohesive and multidisciplinary team in a university counseling center and with professionals in other campus units. Effective interpersonal skills that facilitate organizational health. |

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements: | None. |
Working Schedule: | 12-MONTH POSITION M-F 8:00AM- 5:00PM OCCASIONAL EVENING OR WEEKEND HOURS; however hours may vary to meet departmental needs. |
