Job Description:
The Labour Relations Specialist provides expert consultative labour relations support to leaders and Human Relations Business Partners across a complex multiunion environment. As a key member of the Labour Relations Centre of Excellence this role ensures labour relations practices are consistent defensible and aligned with The Salvation Armys Mission Vision and Valuessupporting a credible responsive and values-driven people environment.
Key Accountabilities
Provide expert labour relations advice on grievances investigations discipline performance management and terminations
Conduct intake and triage of union and non-union complaints including harassment and discrimination matters
Support consistent interpretation and application of collective agreements legislation and enterprise LR strategy
Manage and support grievance processes including investigation preparation and resolution
Partner with HRBPs to assess risk determine escalation pathways and reinforce consistent practices
Coach and guide leaders on effective union-management practices and sound LR decision-making
Support mediation and arbitration preparation in collaboration with Labour Relations leadership and legal counsel
Contribute insights trends and emerging risks to inform COE strategy and enterprise alignment
Maintain thorough defensible documentation and exercise sound professional judgment
Skills & Experience
Minimum 5 years progressive experience in labour relations or HR with a strong LR focus
Advanced knowledge of labour legislation collective agreements and union-management dynamics
Proven experience managing complex grievances investigations and sensitive casework
Strong risk assessment documentation and case management skills
Trusted advisor and coach to leaders and HR partners with respect for role boundaries
Ability to translate complex labour relations issues into practical actionable guidance
Effective collaborator within shared services or matrixed environments
Demonstrated professionalism discretion and alignment with mission-driven values.
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $85321.60 to $106641.60 with a maximum of $127982.40.Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions internal equity and candidate experience skills and qualifications relevant to the role.
