Job Description

The House Managers are student leaders who manage a team of stage crew ushers and attendance scanners for concerts and recitals at Ithaca Colleges Whalen School of Music. They act as the point person for all backstage operations working with conductors performers and crew members to ensure a smooth and successful performance for everyone.

You must be a current member of the MTD Performance Crew to apply for this opportunity.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure concerts start in a timely manner controlling the flow of audience members into and out of recital halls and performance spaces.
  • Direct stage crew and ushers in safety practices and concert etiquette for recital proceedings.
  • Lead stage crew members in stage changes during performances moving instruments and furniture in the most efficient manner possible.
  • Support performers during their event backstage overseeing entrances and exits to and from stage and keeping time.
  • Communicate in advance and day-of with performers/event organizers to gather stage diagrams and flow of event details.
  • Meet weekly with other House Managers and Zachary McDonald to discuss responsibilities and work as a team to solve problems that may arise.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Pay Range: $16.30 - $16.45
