Summary
Responsible for implementing and sustaining the facilitys Health and Safety management programs managing the health and safety activities for the plant to ensure regulatory compliance and protecting human health and the environment.
How You Will Make Contributions That Matter
- Providepro-activeleadership and guidance for a strong safety culture in all areas.
- Develop andmaintainclose workingrelationshipwith manufacturing personnel.
- Develop and manage a facility safety strategy to include but not limited to:Job Hazard AssessmentsPlant InspectionsAccident Investigations Hazard control and Prevention Reports Tracking and verification of corrective actions Auditingthe Environmental Health and Safety programs
- Maintain the accident records and files in support of the annual OSHA 300 log and any other OSHA requirement. Evaluate cases to decrease the accident rate and severity using safety assessments industrial hygiene sampling and followingOSHA regulations and Company Guidelines.
- Manages employee illness and claims from theinitialincident through claim finalization and closely withHR andclaim management representatives to ensure effective claim management.
- Effectively tracks andreportsall employee illness and injury report statisticsmatricesand report management with monthly and annual occupational health and safety reports.
- Responsible forthe Hazard Communication program including theSDS database.
- Be the liaison between the site and 3rdparty environmental andoccupationalsafety regulatory compliance agencies.
- Assistand guide internal and external customers in Safety Health and Environmentalcompliance includingrecommendations corrective action plansspecial projects new products and complaints or concerns.
- Conduct necessary assessmentsinventoriesand inspectionsin support ofenvironmental healthand safety regulations.
- Manage the Process Safety Management includes the annual evaluation of the program NH3 system inspections training systemintegrityand mechanical/functional controltestingand local process safety management teamin accordance withour PSM and RMPP program guidelines and requirements.
- Supervise the environmental compliance program to ensureFederalStateand local County compliance.
- In concert with our Corporate Health and Safety Department develop robust programs and procedures in compliance with OSHA andSaputofor the following GISOs: Emergency Response PlanPersonal Protective EquipmentControl of Hazardous Energy Confined Spaces and Respiratory Protection and Hearing select the best andappropriate levelsof protective equipment forface eyes hand earsfootand body as applicable by hazard and level of exposure.
- Develop a Safety Internal Audit Checklist tocomply withOSHA standards andSaputoguidelines.
- Manage the Ergonomics Program educate theemployeesand coordinate workstation assessments.
- Evaluate environmental problems to develop methods and equipment tomaintainregulatory current with emerging environmental control technology and trends (BACT).
- Supervisemedicalsurveillance for chemicals respiratoryprotectionand hearing conservation programs.
- Oversee the Health programs such as medical surveillance physicals wellnessprogram first aidsupplies and equipment BloodbornePathogensand employee First Aid/CPR training.
- Chair the Safety Committee and coordinate all Safety Committee activities.
- Provide technical support to outside resources or contractors for compliance.
- Manage the Health andsafetyaudit process andact astheliaisonwith regulatory agencies. Maintain effective working relationships with governmental agencies.
- Develop andfacilitatetraining for new employees periodic and annualhealthand safety thetailgate training program to educate employees on health andsafetyinjury prevention practices and topics.
- Support and be an ambassador of Saputo Valuesandcomplies withthe Saputo Code of Ethics.
- Other duties and responsibilities as required by management.
You Are Best Suited For The Role If You
- Bachelors degree in environmental or chemical engineering safety management industrial hygiene industrial risk management or a related field or equivalent experience.
- Working knowledge and understanding of OSHA/CalOSHA Title 8 regulations is required
- A minimum of 5 years of increasing experience in an industrial manufacturing setting preferably food manufacturing.
- Must be literate
- Must complete projects with minimum or no supervisor
- Good interpersonal skills and leadership characteristics

Other Qualifications:Musthavestrong communicationskills and be able to effectively communicate with all levels by either written or oral the ability toread and interpret technical publications such as the Code of Federal Regulation and National Fire Code. Ability to define problems collect dataestablishfacts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Able to manage multiple projects and assignments on a routine basis.
Must understand requirementsonthe Code of Federal Regulations for SafetyHealthand Environment as well as the StateOSHA levelrequirements. Must have the ability to analyze industrial hygiene assessment results to communicate information to all levels and recommendappropriate engineeringcontrols and personal protective equipment. Must understand the requirements for waste disposal and environmental permits to ensure compliance with the regulations. Required to update the OSHA logs andparticipatein accident investigations to avoid re-occurrence.

Salary Range: $89695 - $112120
