Are you a creative and experienced Material Preparation Technician looking for a dynamic role where your skills will make a real impact Have you ever dreamt of building rockets right here in Australia Well nows your chance!The Material Preparation Technician supports the Manufacturing team by ensuring interim materials are produced in line with production planning demand. This role operates across a diverse material prep environment including additive manufacturing waterjet cutting bandsaw and guillotine operations while managing raw material stock such as sheet plate powders and filament.

You will assist with machine set-up and operation monitor build quality safely handle and process materials perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting and maintain accurate documentation and traceability. The role also contributes to efficient stock control and continuous workflow across the department with full training provided on all equipment and processes.

Please note this role will be an Afternoon Shift- 1:00 pm - 9:00 pm

  • Perform work accurately and to a high standard according to build files drawings DXF files procedures specifications and instructions
  • Understand engineering (CAD) drawings and models verifying dimensions and specifications
  • Operate machinery dedicated to the Material Preparation section after training
  • Perform machine setup post processing tracking of raw materials and managing new and in process parts through multi-step workflows
  • Maintain schedules in conjunction with safety and quality within a fast-paced environment
  • Accurately update the inventory management system
  • Manage the workspace in a clean organized and thoroughly maintained manner
  • Operate forklifts manual lifts and Pallet jacks to safely move product around the facility
  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in a trained and approved manner
  • Collaborate with engineers to develop and document manufacturing activities
  • Ensure permitted preventative maintenance is performed on time safely and in a professional manner
  • Ensure quality control standards are adhered to at all times
  • Coordinate with team members in solving technical problems as they arise
  • To communicate with all team members and managers to ensure positive working relationships and adherence to the daily operational requirement
  • Ability to work off-hours work as necessary during certain build phases

Mandatory Qualifications Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in shipping receiving and/or inventory control
  • Computer knowledge
  • Experience in a high-volume manufacturing aerospace automotive or commercial aircraft environment
  • Understanding of Additive Manufacturing principals
  • Experience of using hand tools
  • NV1 Security Clearance eligible preferred

Desired Qualifications Skills and Experience:

  • Current Forklift Licence
  • Level 3 Trade qualification in Aerospace Fitting or similar trade
  • 3 years of experience in the Aerospace Manufacturing Marine Automotive or medical equipment Industry
  • Experience working with and troubleshooting complex mechanical systems ideally within the aerospace industry
  • Experience using additive manufacturing machines
  • Must have exceptional time management communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Adaptability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a fast-paced challenging work environment.
  • It is essential to have the skills to work efficiently in a team environment and should have a desire and willingness to assist other team members in the general day to day running of the department.
  • Ability to lift 20Kg unassisted lifting standing climbing bending grasping sitting pulling pushing stooping stretching and carrying are generally required to perform the functions of this position
