Job Description
SportAdmin is looking for a Head of Engineering to own and drive the technical direction of the company while contributing commercially as a member of the local management team. This is not a pure process role we want someone who leads through culture earns trust from engineers and can hold their own in a business conversation.
You will be responsible for the engineering organisation the technical roadmap and for making sure we build the right things the right way. You will have line responsibility and be expected to shape how the team works hires and grows. The balance is roughly 60/40 technical-to-commercial but we care more about judgment than job descriptions.
What you will do:
Technical Leadership
- Own the technical roadmap and architecture decisions
- Set engineering standards development practices and quality expectations
- Be hands-on enough to evaluate trade-offs review critical designs and unblock the team when needed
- Drive an AI-native development culture AI-assisted coding automated testing and intelligent tooling should be the default not an experiment
- Make pragmatic build-vs-buy decisions and manage technical debt deliberately
People & Culture
- Lead coach and grow a team of 1020 engineers
- Build a high-trust engineering culture where ownership autonomy and craftsmanship matter more than process for its own sake
- Recruit and retain strong engineers you are the reason people join and stay
- Handle the hard conversations: performance direction and priorities
Commercial & Strategic
- Join SportAdmin management team and contribute to company-wide strategy not just engineering topics
- Translate business priorities into technical execution and vice versa
- Collaborate closely with product sales and customer success to ensure engineering delivers real customer value
- Participate in customer and partner conversations where technical depth matters
Who you are
We are looking for someone with a strong technical foundation who has grown into leadership without losing their edge. You should recognise yourself in most of the following:
- Significant experience in software engineering with several years leading engineering teams
- You have shipped and operated production systems you understand what it takes beyond writing code
- You default to AI-assisted workflows in your own work and have opinions on how AI changes how teams build software
- You build culture through example: transparency directness high standards and genuine care for people
- You are comfortable in commercial conversations and can represent engineering credibly to customers partners and the broader management team
- You think in outcomes not activity you would rather remove a process than add one
- You communicate clearly in English; Swedish is a strong plus
