Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION Teach Museum Studies and related courses to a diverse student population. Oversee the programming and function of the Art Gallery as the lead curator. Manage the Colleges art collections. Actively engage with the broader community through outreach recruiting and alumni relations. Work collaboratively with other faculty and staff in the Art Department in disciplines including but not limited to Sculpture Ceramics Painting/Drawing Digital Art Graphic Design Art History and Illustration. Participate in curriculum development and serve on department division college and district committees as necessary to maintain and improve the instructional program; participate in appropriate professional development activities. Participate in co-curricular activities including planning implementing and teaching in special programs designed to support student success. Participate in the formulation of Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) and the Student Learning Outcomes assessment cycle. Maintain formal office and campus hours; participate in department and division meetings. Maintain current knowledge of instructional methods and new technologies pertinent to areas of assignment; learn and apply emerging technologies and advances (e.g. computer software applications) as necessary to perform duties in an efficient organized and timely manner. Teach scheduled classes and perform related duties as assigned including timely compliance with clerical and administrative responsibilities; comply with district college and division policies in the performance of duties. Instruct and assist in the growth and success of a diverse population of students through careful preparation of course materials effective teaching methodologies and informed critical feedback on assignments and discussions. Develop culturally relevant course content culturally responsive pedagogical techniques and effective practices for engaging students who are diverse and/or are students who are historically underserved. The ideal candidate should have experience in this area with African American Latinx Native Americans Pacific Islanders and other disproportionately impacted students. Work cooperatively with staff and students. Evening and/or weekend assignments may be required as part of the regular contract.

Desirable Qualifications
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Teaching experience in Art/Art History in an accredited post-secondary institution using multi-modal approaches and studentcentered pedagogy to meet the needs of first generation immigrant low-income and other disproportionally impacted students who are seeking educational and career growth certificates associate degrees and transfer. Experience working in a contemporary Art Gallery and collaborating with other faculty and/or staff to help maintain an organized clean and safe environment. Experience curating diverse exhibitions that invite direct experience and interpretation of works of art. Experience in collection management using museum-standard best practices. Demonstrated commitment to examine reflect and modify instructional relational and classroom practices to effectively engage our campus community with the goal of closing equity gaps. Experience successfully working in collaboration with full and part-time faculty and staff in coordinating and maintaining relevant innovative and up-to date curriculum and exhibitions that respond to the needs of historically underrepresented students. Demonstrated success with outreach program building recruiting and community building and knowledge of current industry trends and new technologies. Experience with and/or demonstrated ability to create positive outcomes for all students. This includes the ability to effectively engage the colleges diverse student population and the ability to address equity inclusion and diversity issues in the classroom.

Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Masters in fine arts art or art history OR Bachelors in any of the above AND Masters in humanities OR The equivalent. Equivalent qualifications may include related education training employment and professional experience that would be equal to the required degree(s) and experience in this field as determined by the District Equivalency Committee. Commitment to diversity.
