This is a rare and exciting opportunity to shape infection prevention practices across more than 200 ambulatory care sites within the Mass General Brigham (MGB) system including primary care specialty clinics urgent care surgical centers and endoscopy suites.

Job Summary
This role coordinates and supports infection prevention and control initiatives across a diverse network of ambulatory sites driving consistent high-quality standards of care. Responsibilities include ongoing surveillance outbreak investigation and required reporting through both NHSN and non-NHSN systems. The position also conducts Environment of Care rounds identifies potential risks and communicates findings and recommendations clearly to leadership.Serving as a trusted educator this role provides both formal and informal training to clinical and non-clinical staff at all levels helping to build awareness and strengthen best practices across the organization. Collaboration is central with close partnership across Occupational Health Environmental Health & Safety Compliance and Facilities teams to ensure a coordinated approach to infection prevention.
The role also ensures adherence to all local state and federal regulations while advancing continuous improvement efforts through the development and implementation of strategies that reduce infection risk and enhance patient and staff safety across the ambulatory setting.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelors degree in Health Sciences or a related field such as Nursing required
- Masters degree in Infection Control Public Health Epidemiology or a related field preferred
Licensure & Certification
- Registered Nurse (RN) license strongly preferred
- Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) through CBIC preferred (or obtain within 2 years of start date)
Experience
- At least three years of clinical healthcare experience required.
- At least 2 years of ambulatory infection prevention experience strongly preferred.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrated expertise in infection prevention and control practices required.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements related to infection control (local state and federal) required.
- Experience with CDC National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) and other surveillance systems for healthcare-associated infections required.
- Familiarity with performance metrics and benchmarking tools (e.g. Vizient Leapfrog CMS)
- Strong analytical skills including data interpretation statistical analysis and report writing
