Fisher Associates is seeking a Transportation & Highway Technical Manager / Civil Engineer to provide senior-level technical leadership on highway and roadway design projects throughout Upstate New York. This role is ideal for an experienced Civil Engineer or Transportation Engineer who is passionate about transportation infrastructure roadway design and mentoring engineering teams.

As a Technical Manager you will lead hands-on highway and roadway design guide engineering staff and ensure high-quality project delivery for clients including NYSDOT and local municipalities.

What Youll Do as a Transportation & Highway Technical Manager

• Deliver transportation projects that improve mobility safety and quality of life in local communities.

• Oversee the design and execution of highway engineering projects ensuring compliance with industry standards regulations and client requirements.
• Serve as a technical lead guiding the team on best practices decisions and troubleshooting as needed.
• Implement and oversee quality control processes and conduct technical audits to ensure high standards.
• Maintain effective communication with project managers clients and cross-functional teams.
• Ensure effective resource allocation adequate staffing and utilization to meet project and team goals.
• Assist in recruiting top engineering talent who align with the teams technical excellence and company culture.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance team performance.
• Stay current with transportation design trends and emerging technologies integrating them into project solutions.
• Contribute to the organizations technical strategy and help forecast future technical needs.

What You Bring Your Expertise as a Transportation & Highway Technical Manager

• B.S. degree in Civil Engineering
• 8-15 years experience in transportation roadway or highway engineering
• Professional Engineering License (PE) preferred or ability to obtain it
• Prior staff management preferred
• Proficiency in MS Office; MicroStation preferred
• Familiarity with NYSDOT design standards preferred

Salary Range $110000-$175000
