Job Summary
Job Description
The Accountant for Business Services administers the financial accounting functions for the Colleges grant-funded programs. The position prepares and submits Federal and State Financial Reports manages cash draws processes contract invoicing and supports both desk and onsite audits. It also performs a range of accounting duties that ensure compliance with federal state and institutional requirements while providing highquality financial support across the organization. Physical Demands
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers phones photocopiers filing cabinets and fax machines. Ability to lift up to 10 lbs. occasionally open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Ability to travel within the Eastern Iowa Community Colleges district and occasionally statewide or nationally to attend meetings trainings conferences and support multicampus operations; travel may include sameday trips and occasional overnight stays.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Accounting. Working knowledge of QuickBooks and Excel. Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy with numerical data. Minimum of five years of experience in an accounting-related office environment. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. High level of discretion and professionalism when handling confidential information. Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively with others
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in higher education nonprofit or governmental accounting environments. Experience with federal systems such as PMS or . Grant accounting experience.
