Job Summary

The Opportunity

The Faculty of Engineering is seeking a Senior Business Process Analyst to lead strategic business analysis and process improvement initiatives across the Faculty. This role will improve internal capability to analyse document and optimise business processes addressing inconsistencies that drive duplication inefficiency and compliance risk. Working closely with senior stakeholders project teams EPMO Risk Management and Compliance you will define business and functional requirements lead structured process mapping and design scalable standardised solutions. A key focus of the role will be supporting the Business Optimisation System (BOS) Project embedding controls and best practice into future-state processes to strengthen compliance and enhance operational efficiency across the Faculty. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a large-scale transformation initiative within a leading Faculty.

To be successful in this role you will bring extensive experience in business process analysis within a complex environment with the ability to engage stakeholders gather requirements and translate business needs into practical scalable solutions. You will have well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills and experience working within structured project environments.

This role reports to the Deputy Faculty Executive Director and has one direct report.

  • Bachelors degree in business accounting finance or a related field and has or is pursuing Certified Practitioner in Business Analysis (IIBA or PMP) or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through education/training/experience.
  • Demonstrated strong experience with business requirements analysis and business process analysis using the appropriate frameworks. Experience identifying and mapping the current state processes and creating the future state business processes.
  • Demonstrated strong experience in applying lean six sigma skills (Certification desirable).
  • Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving skills to critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources.
  • High Level ability to reconcile conflicts decompose high level information into more detail and the ability to abstract from low level information to a more general understanding.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail to create accurate reports.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining excellent professional and strategic working relationships with stakeholders to develop trust and confidence in business process improvement initiatives.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills with proven facilitation skills (workshops with diverse groups).
  • Advanced skills in office toolsets (Word Excel PowerPoint Visio) with demonstrated experience using or supporting workflow data capture and process mapping tools to document analyse and improve business processes (e.g. Nintex or similar platforms).
  • Strong time management and organisational skills to respond to changing priorities manage multiple tasks and deliver according to project timeframes.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of business processes within a tertiary education environment and change management principles.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSWs aims objectives and values in action together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
