JROTC Air Force

Job Goal:Motivate and encourage students to develop skills attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a foundation for becoming a responsible citizen.

Qualifications:

1. Must be a retired United States Air Force Commissioned Officer
2. Bachelors degree required
3. Complete the mandatory Air Force JROTC Instructor Certification Course (JICC) as a condition of certification
4. Must be eligible for a Alabama Teaching Certificate
5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Reports To:Principal

Background Check Required:(Ala. Code 16-22A-5) Upon offer of employment employees will be required to submit legible fingerprints for a background review by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Background checks may not be more than ten (10) years old.

Essential Functions:

1. Maintains supply accountability in strict compliance with Air Force security regulations
2. Responsible for unit logistics
3. Utilizes and follows the state course of study
4. Determines individual and class needs
5. Establishes objectives and plans learning experiences
6. Implements activities using a variety of techniques that utilize instructional time to meet objectives
7. Organizes supervises and participates in extracurricular activities for AFJROTC cadets to include color guard drill teams and other special activities
8. Evaluates student progress and counsels cadets on their performance within the AFJROTC program
9. Maintains AFJROTC student records as required by the Department of Air Force regulations and local policies
10. Complies with Air Force and school district safety guidelines when instructing supervising monitoring and accompanying cadets
11. Exhibits positive human relations skills
12. Communicates with parents/ guardians colleagues and community groups
13. Demonstrates proficiency in written and oral communication
14. Maintains and submits records and reports
15. Adheres to school system rules administrative procedures local board policy and state and federal rules and regulations
16. Engages in personal professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics and leadership
17. Be an Ambassador of the Air Force. An AFJROTC instructor is expected to exemplify a positive image of the Air Force at all times by conducting themselves in a highly professional manner in both their words and their actions
18. Other duties as assigned

• This position will be subject to the Students First Act of 2011. Madison City Schools reserves the right to fill this position by transfer of a qualified applicant who is already employed by Madison City Schools.
• Under the Students First Act of 2011 no credit toward tenure or non-probationary status is earned in the initial school year of employment if the date of hire occurs after September 30.

Expected Employment: 240 (full year)

Evaluation: According to established Board policies and administrative procedures and guidelines.

Salary: According to Madison City Schools Salary Schedule (Salary based on employment for complete year)
