Our research group is interested in the cell biological basis of rare Mendelian diseases with highly tissue-specific manifestations particularly those which disorder proteostasis (the process by which proteins are accurately synthesized trafficked and degraded). Our ongoing work focuses on diseases of protein aggregation in the brain and the lungs. We utilize a variety of experimental systems including cultured cells organoids and genetically engineered mice applying tools including CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing protein and small molecule mass spectrometry RNA analysis sequencing confocal microscopy basic biochemistry and in vivo disease modeling.


Job Summary

The Chivukula Laboratory in the Center for Genomic Medicine (CGM) at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) is seeking a motivated enthusiastic candidate to join our group as a research lab technician level II (RT).

We involve RTs in all aspects of the scientific process: theory experimental design execution interpretation and figure preparation. Prior RTs have gone on to prestigious graduate medical and nursing school positions following their tenure and training in the laboratory.

Please note the functions below are representative of major duties that are typically associated with these positions. Specific responsibilities may vary based upon departmental needs. Similarly not all duties that have been outlined will be assigned to each position.

Essential Functions
-Executes protocols of non-routine experiments.

-Assists PI with determining the most suitable methodology.

-Performs basic design and modification of protocols.

-Calculates transcribes and analyzes data.

-Prepares and presents reports.

-Organizes and summarizes acquired data using scientific and Statistical Techniques.

-Participates in the design of experiments or field work.
