Essential Functions

• Collaborate with bariatric surgeons physicians dietitians nurses and other interdisciplinary team member
• Participate in case conferences treatment planning meetings and program development initiatives
• Coordinate referrals to community resources higher levels of care or specialty behavioral health services as needed
• Advocate for patients psychosocial needs within the medical system
• Maintain licensure and comply with all state federal and organizational regulations
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and program outcomes tracking
• Provide patient education related to behavioral health coping strategies and long-term success following bariatric intervention
• May facilitate bariatric or behavioral health support groups (if applicable)
• Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments for bariatric surgery candidates including evaluation of mental health history substance use coping skills readiness for surgery and adherence capacity
• Provide pre- and post-operative counseling to bariatric patients addressing behavioral change emotional adjustment body image trauma history and lifestyle modification
• Deliver individual therapy using evidence-based modalities
• Assess and manage co-occurring conditions such as depression anxiety eating disorders trauma and stress-related concerns
• Complete required clinical documentation assessments and treatment plans in compliance with regulatory and program standards
