Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Collaborate with bariatric surgeons physicians dietitians nurses and other interdisciplinary team member
- Participate in case conferences treatment planning meetings and program development initiatives
- Coordinate referrals to community resources higher levels of care or specialty behavioral health services as needed
- Advocate for patients psychosocial needs within the medical system
- Maintain licensure and comply with all state federal and organizational regulations
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and program outcomes tracking
- Provide patient education related to behavioral health coping strategies and long-term success following bariatric intervention
- May facilitate bariatric or behavioral health support groups (if applicable)
- Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments for bariatric surgery candidates including evaluation of mental health history substance use coping skills readiness for surgery and adherence capacity
- Provide pre- and post-operative counseling to bariatric patients addressing behavioral change emotional adjustment body image trauma history and lifestyle modification
- Deliver individual therapy using evidence-based modalities
- Assess and manage co-occurring conditions such as depression anxiety eating disorders trauma and stress-related concerns
- Complete required clinical documentation assessments and treatment plans in compliance with regulatory and program standards

Experience working with bariatric surgery patients weight management programs or medical populations preferred
- Knowledge of eating disorders trauma-informed care and health behavior change preferred
Familiarity with integrated care or hospital-based settings preferred
Experience facilitating groups or psychoeducational programming preferred
