Pay Scale: $40.86-$43.25 Per Hour
Position Summary
The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing comprehensive respiratory care servicesto patients within a correctional healthcare setting including those with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions.
This role supports a medically complex population including patients requiring oxygen therapy airway management and ongoing respiratory monitoring. The Respiratory Therapist works collaboratively with physicians nursing and multidisciplinary teamstoensure safe effective and compliant care.
Qualifications
Key Responsibilities
Assess treat and monitor patients with respiratory and cardiopulmonary conditions
Administer and manage oxygen therapy aerosol treatments and ventilatory supportas applicable
Perform respiratory assessments including breath sounds pulse oximetry and other diagnostic measures
Assist with airway management and emergency response including code situations
Collaborate with providers to develop and implement respiratory care plans
Monitor patient response to therapy and adjust interventions as clinically indicated
Educate patients and healthcare staff on respiratory care techniques and disease management
Ensure proper use maintenance and monitoring of respiratory equipment
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)
Participate in quality improvement initiatives audits and regulatory readiness activities (ACA NCCHC OHS)
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
Licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Georgia
Minimum of 1 year of clinical experiencein hospital acute care or similar setting
Experience with high-acuity or medically complex patients preferred
Correctional healthcare experience preferred
Available Shift: Days Monday-Friday- 8am-5pm
Additional Requirements
Current CPR certification required (ACLS preferred or ability to obtain)
Current tuberculosis (TB/PPD) screening in accordance with company policy
Ability to pass a background investigation and obtain security clearance
Work Location & Environment
Primary location: Augusta State Medical Prison (ASMP) Augusta GA
Work performed in a secure correctional healthcare environmentwith a medically complex patient population
May require flexibility to support varying patient care needs including urgent or emergent situations
