Description:
Performs a variety of support work to ensure the efficient effective operation of the Justice Court including reviewing legal documents and files for accuracy and completeness. Works directly with the public in person and over the phone accepts and receives bail forfeitures and fine payments researches and responds to inquiries and complaints.
Responsibilities:
Provides administrative support to the Justice Judge for Court sessions including gathering case files and other necessary information prior to sessions calling the docket maintaining record of Court proceedings and completing necessary forms for Judges signature during sessions.
Maintains computerized Court database and other Court files including entering information regarding citations and charges Court appearances and actions by the Court. Monitors case files to insure timely appearance by defendants payment of fines completion of counseling and all other requirements imposed by the Court.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Must be able to attend and successfully complete required two (2) day annual Court Clerk Training provided by the Administrative Office of the Courts.
Qualifications:
Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Must have experience equivalent to one (1) year full-time clerical work AND experience equivalent to one (1) year full-time public contact/customer service work. Must be eligible to receive clearance to access Utah Bureau of Criminal Identification Criminal Justice System. Computer literate: Word Excel & Adobe Acrobat. Must be able to type 45-50 WPM. Must have good communication skills. Must have good customer service and organizational skills. Spanish speaking desirable.
