About the College of Science: The Colleges mission is to educate mentor and inspire students through scientific inquiry and hands-on learning. It offers 15 undergraduate degree programs and six Masters degrees across seven academic departments that include: Biological Sciences Chemistry & Biochemistry Computer Science Geological Sciences Kinesiology & Health Promotion Mathematics & Statistics and Physics & Astronomy. Our Center for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching (CEMaST) supports K-16 education locally and nationally to increase STEM success and participation for all. The College of Science has approximately 150 full-time faculty 40 staff and 4400 active majors. Our commitment to the teacher-scholar model results in our college being the largest recipient of extramural grant funding on campus. About the Department of Kinesiology & Health Promotion: The Kinesiology and Health Promotion (KHP) Department supports the colleges mission to educate mentor and inspire students through scientific inquiry and hands-on learning. Our objective is to advance the art and science of health and human movement. We offer two B.S. degree programs (General Kinesiology and Physical Education Teacher Education) and an M.S. degree in Kinesiology. Four undergraduate minors (Public Health Sport & Social Justice Adapted Physical Activity and Exercise Science) began enrolling students in Fall 2025. Four new Masters options (Adapted Physical Education General Kinesiology Health & Human Performance and PE Leadership & Advocacy) are expected to launch in AY 2026-27. The KHP Department contains a vibrant interdisciplinary faculty with expertise in adapted physical activity biomechanics cultural studies of sport and exercise exercise physiology health promotion PE teacher education and stress management. We foster curiosity and a culture of scientific discovery through our four research laboratories (the Mind & Heart Research Lab the Motor Development Clinic Human Performance Lab and the Motor Neuroscience Lab) and our extensive service learning programming. We have three active student groups (the KHP club Pre-PT/OT club & KHP Grad Connect) who prepare their members for impactful contributions to the fields of KHP. The Position

The temporary faculty pool is continuously open and positions are filled as needed based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term begins mid-January and ends in mid-May. Responsibilities

Teach assigned division courses in the departments curriculum and serve weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load. Assignments may include day evening and/or weekend courses.

Required Qualifications

  • A Masters degree in Kinesiology Public Health or related discipline in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Ph.D. in Kinesiology Public Health or related discipline
  • Prior teaching experience at the college or university level and ability to furnish evidence of strong teaching.

Salary and Benefit Information

Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Initial appointments are for one semester full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated above are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.

Most new appointees are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank and placed at the beginning of the range. Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications not to exceed $6221 per month. As of July 2024 the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are:

Lecturer A: $5507 - $ 6677
Lecturer B: $6221 - $13224
Lecturer C: $6825 - $14523
Lecturer D: $8593 - $15211
