Job Summary

Job Title:	Research Assistant
Physical Location:	Kent Campus - Kent OH
Salary:	$14.28/$29702 to $17.40/$36192
Basic Function:	WE ARE SEEKING A FULL-TIME RESEARCH TECHNICIAN TO WORK IN DR. JOSEPH BEDONTS LABORATORY ( IN THE DEPARTMENT OF BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES.
Additional Basic Function if applicable:	OUR RESEARCH FOCUSES ON HOW BEHAVIORAL HOMEOSTATS (ESPECIALLY SLEEP) AND CIRCADIAN RHYTHMS INTERACT WITH METABOLISM IN HEALTH AND DISEASE. THE LAB WORKS PRIMARILY IN THE FRUIT FLY AND TO A LESSER EXTENT MOUSE MODEL ORGANISMS UTILIZING BLENDED GENETIC BEHAVIORAL HISTOLOGICAL AND BIOCHEMICAL TOOLKITS TO INTERROGATE TOPICS OF INTEREST.
Examples of Duties:	Duties/essential functions may include but not be limited to the following: DUTIES WILL INCLUDE FLY PUSHING (ASSESSING GENOTYPE AND MATING STATUS BY PHENOTYPE CROSSING OF ALLELES COLLECTION OF EXPERIMENTAL FLIES) PREPARING FLY FOOD FOR EXPERIMENTS MAINTENANCE OF MICE COLONIES.

Minimum Qualifications:	A MINIMUM OF A BACHELORS DEGREE IN BIOLOGY NEUROSCIENCE OR A RELATED FIELD. Applicants should be detail-oriented able to work both as part of a team and independently and have good time management skills. License/Certification: Knowledge Of: Skill In: Ability To:
