The Position: Reporting directly to the Provost the Associate Provost for Faculty Success (APFS) provides vision and leadership for the educational mission of the University and is the principal deputy of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs in matters of teaching learning and scholarship. The APFS plays a critical role in university faculty success initiatives recognizing the centrality of faculty to the universitys success as the drivers of teaching research student development and institutional quality. The incumbent supervises the Executive Director of the Office of Research Scholarship and Creative Activities (ORSCA) the Director of Faculty Success and the Executive Director of the Center for Effective Teaching and Leaming (CETL). The APFS supervises the Executive Director of the Center for Effective Teaching and Leaming; provides leadership in the development of instructional services and programming to support innovative evidence-based teaching and technology-enhanced instruction; and leads coordination of efforts across provide accessible instructional materials to students. The APFS works collaboratively with the APSS to encourage student-centered and career-engaged curriculum. Academic Technology is housed within CETL and is responsible for institution-wide instructional technology services including LMS (Canvas) administration virtual support educational technology innovation and the leadership of shared instructional designers working across colleges. The APFS oversees the Director of Faculty Success providing leadership efforts to onboard retain and support the growth of our tenure track and lecturer faculty through each stage of their career. The incumbent will collaborate with other units on the campus to identify and support internal and external opportunities for faculty development. The APFS will create and maintain access to comprehensive resources to support faculty to thrive in their teaching scholarship and service. The APFS supervises the Executive Director of Research Scholarly and Creative Activity providing campuswide leadership in support of faculty research scholarly and creative activities. The APFS is responsible for providing leadership for building funding capacity and support for research scholarship and creative activities appropriate to the mission of the University including encouraging the active growth of undergraduate and graduate student research opportunities. The APFS oversees the development of external and internal grant and contracts; ensuring integrity of administration and legal compliance; and advocates for efficient pre- and post-award processes for college deans department chairs faculty and staff (as pre- and post-award are housed in UAS). The APFS actively engages in ongoing efforts with other units on campus to develop and improve processes practices procedures and communication related to securing and managing grant and foundation-funded research and other forms of creative scholarship. APFS oversees the Institutional Review Board - Human Subjects (IRB) and the Institutional Animal Care and works closely with the Office of Sponsored Projects in University Auxiliary Services (UAS) the University Foundation and University Advancement. The APFS represents the Provost on systemwide and university committees related to ORSCA activities.

Required Qualifications & Experience: Doctoral degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a discipline represented at Cal State LA. A record of peer-reviewed research teaching and service sufficient to merit an appointment as a tenured full professor at Cal State LA. Three years of progressive leadership experience in an institution of higher education. Demonstrated commitment to faculty success. Incumbent must demonstrate an interest or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who may apply for the position.

California State University Los Angeles as part of the CSU system is a State of California Employer. As such the University requires all employees upon date of hire to reside in the State of California. As of January 1 2022 the CSU Out-of-State Employment Policy prohibits the hiring of employees to perform CSU-related work outside the state of California.

Desired Qualifications: Leadership: A record of success leading innovation large-scale initiatives and organizational improvement resulting in academic excellence and faculty success in diverse higher education context(s). A demonstrated record of transparent data-informed decision-making in policy strategies and implementation of initiatives in higher education. A record of effective collaborative leadership in a shared governance environment. A successful record of innovation in undergraduate and/or graduate curriculum development. A demonstrated record of commitment to diversity equity inclusion and belonging. An excellent record of integrity professionalism interpersonal skills and ethical decision-making. Senior leadership experience in and/or an understanding of the California State University (CSU) system. Demonstrated excellence in organizational communication and collaboration across all levels of university administration. Teaching and Learning: Demonstrated commitment to faculty teaching and learning in a teaching-intensive institution. Demonstrated ability to apply equity and asset-based learning approaches to teaching and learning support programs and in mentorship and supporting academic personnel processes (RTP) and faculty career growth. Demonstrated commitment to supporting lecturer success. Research Scholarship and Creative Activities: Strong record of scholarship research and publications along with a demonstrated ability to successfully pursue and implement extramural grant funding. Demonstrated ability to mentor other researchers at all stages of their scholarly careers. Demonstrated knowledge of the elements processes and regulations that make up the research administration enterprise on a university campus. Demonstrated commitment to faculty-mentored student research scholarship and creative activities. Experience interfacing with the Institutional Review Board (IRB) Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) Environmental Health and Safety and Risk Management or General Counsel of a comprehensive state university. An understanding of and familiarity with state and federal funding sources. Management: Experience overseeing staff including assigning tasks managing workflow deescalating conflict and evaluating expertise in data analysis forecasting data visualizations and effective communication of quantitative information to varied audiences.A documented record of successful planning and management of academic budgets in higher education.

Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Salary range is $10106- $32441/monthly. (Budgeted Hiring Salary Range $17500-$19584/monthly) A comprehensive benefits package is provided.

Appointment: The Administrator IV appointment will be made under the guidelines for management and supervisory employees of the California State University. All rights and benefits associated with this appointment are governed by the Management Personnel Plan.

This position is a designated position in the California State Universitys Conflict of Interest Code. The successful candidate accepting this position is required to file Conflict of Interest forms subject to the regulations of the Fair Political Practices Commission.
