Job Summary

Responsibilities

The Office of Space Weather Observations (SWO) under NESDISis responsible foradvancing space weather observational capabilities to meet NOAA programmatic needs. NOAAs Space Weather Next (SWX) programmaintainsand extends space weather observations from various vantage points selected to most efficientlyprovide comprehensive knowledge of the Sun and the near-Earth space environment needed to protect our technological infrastructure.

The Space Weather Ground Services (SWGS)is responsible forcomprehensive ground services for all SWX projects ensuring successful implementation and operation ofobservingassets and ensuring the continuity of space weather measurements made by SWFO-L1 and the GOES-R series satellites.

The SWGS Mission Operations Services (MOS) program must provide a fullmission satellitecommand and control solution to support the L1 Series with two new independently launched observatories.

Overview:

Peraton is seeking aSystemsIntegration & TestEngineerto supportIntegration Test and Check Out (ITCO)activities across a new satellite ground system development program supporting the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). This position will support allSystems Engineering Integration and Test (SEIT)activities throughout the full system lifecyclefrom architecture and design through integration assessment authorization and operational deployment.

The selected candidate willbe responsible forsupporting the programsITCOfunction. This role requires close collaboration with other program functional elements includingCyberSoftware Engineering Networks Infrastructure Architecture OperationsQualityand program leadership.

  • Perform system levelsoftwareand hardwareintegration and test(I&T) activities for Satellite Ground Station Command and Control applications ensuring system compatibilityto meet program technicalscheduleand costobjectives. This includes the test and integration of COTS-based systemshardwareand custom software from the system design phase through development documentation installation and commissioning of the completed system
  • Generatetestplans andproceduresfor theverification andvalidation(V&V)of softwareand hardwarecomponents toensure requirementstraceability and test caseexecutiontoallowrequirement V&V
  • Support test readiness reviews formal system verification of the system requirements and final test reports
  • Organize execute and report onsoftwareand hardwaretesting
  • Recognize and adopt best practices in documentationtestingand efficient use of resources
  • Develop andmaintaindrawings for system level components
  • Support planningintegrationand implementation activities for cloud and on-prem deployments
  • Perform integration design of hardware and software components
  • Create andmodifybash scripts
  • Utilize JIRA in an Agile development environment
  • Support development and maintenance of automated testing

Qualifications

  • Minimum of5 yearswith BS/BA; Minimum of3 yearswith MS/MA
  • 9 yearsof relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a bachelors degree
  • Ability to obtain and hold a Public Trust clearance US Citizenship is
  • Experience with system implementation processes and best practices
  • Experience developing tests scripts using Python PerlPowershell Java C etc.
  • Experience with RedHat Linux
  • Experience working in a Cloud Environment using containerization
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment
  • Extensive experience with Windows OS and Microsoft Office productsto include Visio Pro
  • Experience with automated testing tools (e.g.XraySelenium Cucumber etc.)
  • Familiar with the Atlassian tool suite including JiraAsset Manager Confluence Risk Register Crucible Bitbucket Git etc.

Target Salary Range

$80000 - $128000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position the individuals experience education knowledge skills and competencies as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position employees may be eligible for overtime shift differential and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
