The role:

We are looking for a Communications Assistant to join our Marketing & Business Development department in London.

The Communications Assistant will support the delivery of a high-performing fast-paced communications function at Simmons & Simmons working across Internal Communications and Public Relations (PR).

This is an entry-level role within a professional services environment suited to someone looking to begin their career in communications. The successful candidate will contribute to the planning coordination and delivery of communications activities across the firm while developing their skills within a structured high-standard team.

The role requires a highly organised and detail-oriented individual with strong communication skills who is comfortable managing multiple priorities and maintaining quality in a fast-paced environment.

What will you do:

  • Assist with logistical and administrative support for communications activity including internal updates events PR campaigns press releases and media activity.

  • Support the delivery of communications and content across multiple channels (e.g. intranet email newsletters digital signage video updates).

  • Maintain communications calendars and support content scheduling.

  • Maintain and update the firmwide intranet.

  • Respond to communications enquiries from internal and external stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.

  • Provide virtual and onsite support for key internal communications moments and firmwide events as required.

  • Compile regular reporting and maintain databases including PR reporting (e.g. media coverage and campaign performance updates).

  • Undertake research and horizon-scanning and compile media briefing notes to support the PR team.

  • Support submissions for directories awards legal press surveys and legal rankings.

  • Ensure all communications outputs are clear accurate and aligned with firm messaging and tone maintaining high standards of quality and consistency.

What we are looking for:

  • Basic understanding of Microsoft office applications (e.g. Word PowerPoint etc).

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proactive and adaptable with a willingness to support across a range of activities.

  • Experience in communications PR or a professional services environment is desirable but not essential.

Career Level:

The career level assigned to this role is level 1. The career level framework provides a formal structure for the business services functions at the firm. The framework which ranges from level 1 to level 7 clearly defines the responsibilities skills and competencies required at each level.
