Dual Registered Midwife and Nurse

Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking applications for a DualRegistered Nurse and Midwife (RN/RM)to join us in a permanent full time or part time role. Based at our Springfield campus these roles will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield opening early 2026. This state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU maternity emergency and medical surgical services its set to care for over 200000 patients annually.

Join our growing team at Mater Hospital Springfield where surgical and maternity care intersect. Inpatient Unit 2 (IPU2) is a 32-bed Private Surgical Ward with six dedicated Private Maternity beds. Seeking candidates who thrive in a diverse clinical setting. Your dual-trained expertise will enable you to deliver safe woman-centred maternity care while contributing to excellent surgical nursing. Additionally this role offers opportunities for professional growth including potential rotations through the dedicated Maternity Inpatient Unit to further expand and consolidate your clinical skills.

Salary range: $41.73 - $53.53 per hour plus superannuation andaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15900access to many staff benefits!

What youll be doing

In this role you will provide high-quality care across both surgical and maternity specialties within a supportive team nursing environment caring for a mixed patient cohort each shift.

• Deliver high-quality evidence-based nursing and midwifery care to achieve excellent patient outcomes.
• Perform thorough patient assessments to guide individualised care planning.
• Collaborate with patients and healthcare teams to develop and evaluate care plans.
• Advocate for patients rights ensuring informed consent and respectful communication.
• Maintain a safe clean and supportive environment by following safety and infection control policies.
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams and community services to ensure continuity of care.
• Commit to ongoing professional development mentoring and reflective practice.
• Integrate research into practice and support nursing/midwifery research activities.
• Communicate clearly and ethically with patients families and colleagues.
• Take responsibility for clinical decisions and actions within your scope of practice.

About you

The successful candidate will have a current unrestricted registration with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Board as a dual Registered Nurse and Midwife.

• Minimum of two years full-time equivalent clinical experience in the relevant specialty.
• Proven experience working effectively in the specialty area you are applying for.
• Strong problem-solving communication coordination and time management skills.
• Ability to work efficiently within a busy multidisciplinary team environment.
• Tertiary qualifications or ongoing study in the relevant clinical specialty are highly regarded but not essential
• Postgraduate qualification in the relevant specialty or actively working towards one is highly desirable.
