Job Summary

Agentic AI Engineer - LLM Agents & Tool Integration / MCP

Toronto (Hybrid)

Key Responsibilities

Design develop and deploy conversational agents (chat assistants copilots agent-assist) using modern LLM/agent frameworks.

Build tool-integrated agents that can securely execute actions (e.g. retrieve data call APIs update systems) via standardized interfaces such as MCP servers/clients.

Implement and maintain MCP servers that expose well-designed tools/resources/prompts for enterprise systems (APIs databases internal services) including transport patterns (local/stdio HTTP) and strong error-handling.

Create reusable Skills (packaged agent workflows/instructions) to enable consistent agent behavior and rapid onboarding of new use cases. (Agent skills are portable instruction sets used to guide agent implementations.)

Implement RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) patterns where needed (chunking embeddings vector stores grounding citations) and optimize prompt/tool orchestration for accuracy and latency.

Ensure enterprise-grade security compliance and governance: authentication (OAuth2/OIDC) secret management access controls audit logging and data handling standards.

Develop automated tests for tools and agent flows (unit/integration) and support CI/CD pipelines for reliable releases.

Monitor and troubleshoot production issues: conversation quality tool failures hallucination reduction latency tuning cost optimization and user experience improvements.

Collaborate with product owners architects and business stakeholders to translate requirements into agent capabilities and measurable outcomes.

Must-Have Skills / Experience

5 years building production-grade applications with strong engineering fundamentals.

Strong development skills in Python and/or TypeScript/.

2 years hands-on experience with a cloud platform such as Azure / AWS / OpenShift (deployments networking identity observability).

Strong experience with Git and modern CI/CD practices (build test automation release pipelines).

2 years building or integrating AI agents using common frameworks (e.g. LangChain LlamaIndex Claude SDK or similar agent SDKs).

Practical experience integrating agents with external tools/services using MCP (server/client concepts tool design permissions auth error handling).

API design and integration skills: REST event-driven patterns JSON schema/contracts and enterprise integration best practices.

Nice-to-Have / Preferred

Experience with Microsoft ecosystem agent development (Copilot Studio Power Platform Microsoft 365 Agents SDK) including adding and using Skills within conversational topics.

Experience with Azure AI services (e.g. orchestration search content safety monitoring) and/or agent frameworks like Semantic Kernel.

Strong understanding of tooling strategy (designing discoverable tool names paginated outputs concise descriptions) for agent effectiveness.

Familiarity with evaluation frameworks for conversational AI (offline test suites prompt/tool regression testing).
