Facilities Management at JMU is currently accepting applications for a Power Plant Mechanical Supervisor. This position will safely and efficiently supervise and maintain all aspects of steam generation and distribution services throughout the University.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Providing skilled and effective supervision of personnel and operations
Maintenance repair inspection and rebuilding of steam generating and chill water production systems
Operate all aspects of repair and maintenance procedures to power plant equipment; boilers chillers cooling towers pumps valves controls steam traps 3 phase electric motors and steam distribution systems
Supervise train and teach employees proper procedures repair techniques and safety issues
Troubleshooting problem areas and inspecting for defective equipment/faulty components
Qualifications:
Skilled use of hand and power tools diagnostic equipment and mechanical abilities
Ability to maintain and repair power plant and related equipment
Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose a variety of mechanical problems
Accurately interpret blueprints sketches work orders specifications and determine project requirements
Ability to read and interpret gauges recorders and monitoring equipment
Posses proficient computer skills and be familiar with DEQ permitting regulations
Successful supervisory skills
In depth knowledge of applicable safety rules regulations and procedures
Ability to perform complex record keeping tasks
Availability to work all shifts
Valid Drivers License
