The Language Banc (TLB) a Piedmont Global company offers flexible on-call work on an Independent Contractor basis. We are currently seeking interpreters for on-site interpretation assignments throughout Greater Minnesota to provide in-person services for ALL languages.
Spanish Somali Cambodian/Khmer Arabic Mandarin and Vietnamese interpreters are strongly encouraged to apply.
This is a "1099" independent contractor position for on-site (OSI) interpretation at various locations outside of the metro area.
Interpreter Functions:
- Facilitate effective communication by accurately converting spoken language between parties.
- Render messages clearly without omissions or additions while maintaining original style and context.
- Provide sight translations of written materials as required.
- Adhere to the Interpreter Code of Ethics Standards of Practice and HIPAA confidentiality protocols.
- Act as a cultural broker to assist parties in reaching mutual understanding.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED.
- Native fluency in English and a second language.
- Prior interpreting experience and knowledge of medical terminology.
- Completion of a 40-hour accredited interpreter training (e.g. Bridging the Gap The Community Interpreter training).
- Active registration on the MDH Interpreter Roster.
- Reliable transportation insurance and access to a mobile phone and computer.
- Up-to-date immunization records and ability to pass a criminal background check.
Desired but not required
- National Certification (CCHI/CMI or NBCMI)
