Summary
As the Rolling Stock Mechanic you will be a vital member at one of our Alaskan processing facilities responsible for maintaining and repairing various types of rolling stock such as Flatbeds Forklifts and company vehicles. You will be responsible for diagnosing and troubleshooting any mechanical and electrical problems performing routine maintenance tasks and ensuring the safety and reliability of rolling stock equipment. Your expertise in diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues will be essential in keeping our equipment operational and minimizing downtime.
Requirements
Essential Functions/Qualifications
The responsibilities of the position include the following:
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on a variety of rolling stock including flatbeds forklifts and company vehicles.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems utilizing your in-depth knowledge of rolling stock systems.
- Ensure adherence to all State and Federal regulations pertaining to rolling stock maintenance and operation.
- Efficiently track all parts and inventory control for all facility vehicles.
- Ensure all State and Federal regulations are met.
- Maintain accurate records of daily weekly and monthly maintenance of rolling stock.
- Keep a well-organized and maintained workspace to enhance efficiency and safety.
- Other duties as assigned to ensure the facility and organization is fully supported and successful.

- Mechanical Expertise: Deep understanding of the mechanical systems and components of rolling stock including engines transmissions brakes and suspension.
- Electrical Knowledge: Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing electrical systems including wiring control panels and lighting.
- Diagnostic Skills: Ability to identify and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems.
- Maintenance Procedures: Knowledge of routine maintenance procedures such as oil changes inspections and adjustments.

- Equipment Operation: Proficiency in operating diagnostic tools hand tools and specialized equipment used in rolling stock maintenance.

Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred but not required.
- Position requires driven machinery certifications such as a forklift expeditor or flatbed truck which in turn requires a valid drivers license.
- 3 years of forklift mechanic experience in all aspects including electrical preferred.
- Certifications in relevant areas such as diesel engine mechanics or electrical maintenance can enhance job prospects.
- Previous experience in Seafood or Manufacturing as receptionist or administrative role preferred.

Education and Experience High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred but not required. 3 to 6 months of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience in seafood industry or manufacturing not required but preferred. Work Environment and Schedule The Fillet Line Supervisor is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to a full spectrum of outside weather conditions from wet/humid conditions with extreme cold. Occasionally exposed to high precarious places fumes or airborne particles toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud at times. Position requires onsite presence at one of our Alaska processing facilities and the ability to travel including at times in remote locations. Physical Demands Employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. Employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop kneel crouch or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision peripheral vision and depth perception. Mental Activities Excellent in working as a team with good work ethics good decision-making skills and is occasionally required to use interpersonal skills mentoring problem analysis training and supervision skills. Able to multitask in a very stressful and fast-paced work environment. Pay attention to details and have a high level of accuracy be flexible and stress resistant.
