Job Summary

Summary

As The Facility Maintenance Technician at one of our Alaskan facilities you will be responsible for maintaining the facility and equipment in optimal condition to ensure safe and efficient operations. This includes performing preventative maintenance on machinery repairing equipment breakdowns conducting routine inspections and ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation regulations.

This role also plays a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of the facility including cleaning floors walls and equipment to prevent contamination. Additionally they may be involved in minor construction and renovation projects to improve the facilitys layout and functionality.



Requirements

Essential Functions/Qualifications

The responsibilities of the position include the following:

  • Troubleshoot adjust and repair Iron Butcher and similar heading and gutting machines to achieve maximum recovery and quality.
  • Rebuild and maintain pumps.
  • Troubleshoot repair and build hydraulic and pneumatic system components.
  • Troubleshoot build and repair conveyors.
  • Weld and fabricate aluminum or stainless.
  • Recognize operator errors and correct their behavior in a constructive manner.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on dock equipment including forklifts conveyors and refrigeration systems.
  • Repair breakdowns and malfunctions of dock equipment in a timely manner.
  • Conduct routine inspections of dock facilities and equipment to identify potential hazards and maintenance needs.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the dock area including cleaning floors walls and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Assist in loading and unloading of seafood products as needed.
  • Coordinate with other maintenance personnel to ensure efficient operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs.
  • Other duties as assigned to ensure the facility and organization is fully supported and successful.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience seafood industry in facility maintenance or a related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic electrical plumbing and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to operate power tools and equipment safely.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.


Work Environment and Schedule

While performing your duties as the Carpenter you will be regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. You will also be occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and are frequently exposed to high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is loud. Position requires onsite presence at one of our Alaska processing facilities and the ability to travel including at times to remote locations.


Physical Demands
In performing your position as the Carpenter you must be able to stand walk sit use hands to finger handle or feed; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Must be able to do frequent walk climb or balance and stoop kneel crouch or crawl. Can lift and /or move up to 10 pounds frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment and Schedule The Fillet Line Supervisor is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to a full spectrum of outside weather conditions from wet/humid conditions with extreme cold. Occasionally exposed to high precarious places fumes or airborne particles toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud at times. Position requires onsite presence at one of our Alaska processing facilities and the ability to travel including at times in remote locations.
