Ascensus Specialities is a premier global leader in chemical manufacturing and we are seeking a highly skilled Instrument and Electrical (I&E) Technician to join our Maintenance Team at our plant in Elma WA. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor this position is highly focused on Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) supported by essential electrical maintenance. You will serve as a technical subject matter expert responsible for the troubleshooting repair and precision calibration of complex automated systems across our facility.

- Process Instrumentation: Performing advanced diagnostics and calibration on pressure temperature flow and level transmitters.
- Automation & Controls: Troubleshooting and maintaining Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and integrated control logic to ensure peak operational efficiency.
- Motor Control Systems: Managing and configuring Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and related electrical components.
- System Integrity: Repairing and maintaining electronic pneumatic and automated systems in a high-stakes chemical manufacturing environment.

- Technically Proficient: Well-versed in the installation and maintenance of PLCs VFDs and diverse process transmitters.
- Analytical: Possessing a deep understanding of control logic and the ability to read complex loop sheets and electrical schematics.
- Autonomous: Capable of operating with minimal supervision to resolve technical hurdles in real-time.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Maintenance & Systems
- Systems Expertise: Maintain troubleshoot and calibrate plant instrumentation electronics Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and power distribution equipment.
- Diagnostic & Repair: Dismantle repair and replace components in process equipment facility-wide; proactively detect and report equipment malfunctions or improper operations.
- Installation: Install and integrate new electrical or process control systems according to technical specifications.
- Technical Literacy: Interpret and work from complex technical manuals schematics P&IDs and control logic (e.g. Ladder Logic DeltaV).
Compliance & Documentation
- Precision Calibration: Perform and document inspections and calibrations for all ISO or IMP process instrumentation in production and utility areas.
- Records Management: Maintain accurate equipment records and update SOP and SAP files to ensure data integrity and regulatory compliance.
- Safety & Environment: Execute all duties with a safety-first mindset prioritizing the well-being of co-workers and minimizing environmental impact.
Operational Support
- Asset Management: Maintain work areas tools and equipment in accordance with VPC (Value Plus Control) practices and facility standards.
- Shop Proficiency: Demonstrate mastery of hand and power tools including precision instruments (micrometers) machining equipment (drill press) and industrial vehicles (forklift skyjack).
- Teamwork: Act as a proactive team player when collaborating with co-workers both within and outside the maintenance department.
- Availability: Ability and willingness to respond to call-ins and work scheduled overtime to meet business demands.
- Other duties as assigned by the department supervisor or manager.
Supervision & Autonomy
- Level of Supervision: None. This role requires a high degree of self-direction and the ability to execute tasks independently.
- Oversight: General oversight and technical guidance are provided only for highly complex issues major system overhauls or specialized business needs.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Technical Training: A two-year technical degree in Instrumentation Electrical and/or Industrial Automation.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in the Instrumentation and Electrical (I&E) field.
- Technical Proficiency: Proven ability to read and interpret control logic (e.g. Ladder DeltaV) technical manuals and complex schematics.
Preferred Qualifications
- Industry Experience: Direct experience working within a chemical manufacturing or heavy industrial processing environment.
- Advanced Systems: Familiarity with DCS power distribution systems and SAP/ISO documentation standards.
Physical Requirements & Availability
- Tools & Equipment: Mastery in the safe operation of hand/power tools and industrial equipment including forklifts and skyjacks.
- Flexibility: Ability and willingness to respond to call-ins and work scheduled maintenance overtime to support 24/7 plant operations.

Compensation & Bonus
- Hourly Rate Range: $45.00 $55.00 per hour.
- Targeted Hiring Range: $45.00 $50.00 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.
- Annual Bonus: This position is eligible for a 6% annual performance bonus based on a combination of individual achievements and company performance metrics.
