Job Summary
hydraulic engineer designs analyzes and manages systems for water control transport and fluid power including pipelines dams pumps and drainage. They utilize fluid mechanics principles and simulation software to create infrastructure that optimizes water resources and ensures environmental compliance. Their role often involves creating CAD models conducting feasibility studies and supervising construction.

Key Responsibilities
Design and Modeling: Develop hydraulic systems (pipes channels networks) using CAD software and perform simulation modeling (e.g. HEC-RAS EPANET).
Analysis and Simulation: Use fluid mechanics and hydraulic modeling techniques to predict water behavior optimize performance and evaluate risks.
Site Investigations: Conduct feasibility studies technical evaluations and site assessments for new infrastructure.
Project Management: Create technical documentation including reports specifications and CAD drawings to ensure compliance with standards.
System Testing and Maintenance: Inspect existing systems perform troubleshoot operations and ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
Collaboration: Work with multidisciplinary teams including environmental scientists and civil engineers to implement water management strategies.

Qualifications
Education: A Bachelors degree in Civil Mechanical or Hydraulic Engineering.
Experience: Generally requires 35 years of experience in hydraulic design though junior roles exist for less experienced candidates.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD) hydraulic modeling software (e.g. HEC-RAS GIS) and Microsoft Office.
Certification: Professional Engineer (PE) license is often preferred or required for senior roles.
